I have been in a few areas, seems like any given sq foot has potential to hold deer. I have found a bunch of white oaks, so Im not sure if sitting over one is the ticket or not, but thats my plan "A" right now.

Scouted about 2 hours yesterday and went back this morning. Seen lots of deer and plenty of acorns dropping. I marked a few places. Probably hunt a thicket as well. Gonna scout again this evening and tomorrow morning as well.

SpurHunter - 9/15/2011 11:56 AM Niteowl, did you see any horns?

like you care!!! if it aint got spots, its dead in spurs book

Nah, not there. The deer are like ticks. The rule states you have to take a doe first, so Ill already have stuck one and wait for a shooter. I dont trophy hunt, but this is like hunting a zoo. It's fenced and the deer are used to close human interaction, if I ever kill a big one, this will be the place.

MooreEagle - 9/15/2011 12:37 PM Which trail where you on when you saw the 20 deer?

I saw a bunch on the trail past the third hill in the valley before the straight-away. Right near that big tree on the left and right.

Oh, you mean over by the big oak tree on top of that hill facing north by north east 10 clicks off the road on the south quadrant where all those white oaks are?

did see a nice 10 pter. seen a couple of 8's. seen more bucks than does yesterday scouting. Seen 1 really nice one. not sure how big, but definatey a shooter.

I've been 4 times so far...Got 3 spots picked out, but gonna look some more after that first hunt is done. Rangers are pretty nice guys and were helpful in answering questions...

I was shocked yesterday with the great weather and overcast sky. I drove the whole place, then hiked around my primary spot for a while, didnt see a single deer anywhere.

They have a formula for these draws, knowing a certian percentage wont even show. I bet there will be less thatn 60, thats 30 acres per person, I can handle you guys 30 acres from me. LOL
