Yesterday I saw two good bucks locking horns...but they were on the oustide of the fence. Do you think the deer can jump over that fence?

I aint sayin they can't, but I dont think they would regularly

I thought they cancelled the hunt 2 years ago and then started it back last year?

Jump the fence? I saw 7 eating in a yard...on the left sie of Bonny Oaks....just before going under the train bridge the other morning. Wanna see some bucks? Go to Brent McDonalds face book page....click on his videos. He is a camera man for Channel 9.

Cades Cove has some great deer too, and you know what they have in common with that yard you saw the deer in? You guessed it, we cant hunt either place. emoDoh emoLaugh emoLaugh

The ranger told me they do, but I have a hard time believing that. They have no reason to jump it also...does on both sides, food on both, Ill believe it when I see it.

I hope the deer know what day it is, as this hunt is on Mon-Tue this year. LOL

MooreEagle - 9/20/2011 10:43 AM Is the front of the park fenced in as well? It appears that the deer could just come and go as they please through the front?

Yees its open, but that is also where most human activity is, so it keeps most away from there. Also, the park is pretty big, so no reason for deer in hte middle and back to go that far to do anything at all.

Maybe if this year goes well they will do a 2012/2013 draw hunt for Harrison Bay State Park. Just does'nt sound much like a Hunt to me.

I read tonight on chattanoogan.com that an attorney is trying to get Hamilton County to stop the hunting there.

yeah. Theres just as many deer outside the park. drove through yesterday, going to scout and counted 4 dead deer on side of hickory valley rd. Heck I think they should have 3 or 4 hunts there. Everybody says its a easy hunt, but you have to remember that you have to kill a doe first and compete with 79 other hunters in 1800 acres. Might sound like alot, but it will be crowded. Just hope I have found at least 1 spot that i will have to myself

Some people just dont and wont even try to undertand the term "manage". If I was an insurance advisor for a car maker, I would push for manage hunts in suburban areas. Thats a lot of traffic in one area to have an over poppulation of deer.
