Jmax's thread about the guy getting in the car reminded me of a story I heard when I was young on "The Morning Show", with Harry Thornton. A seventy some odd year old lady was pulled up at a stop light in Chattanooga when a man simply opened her door, got in the car, told her to shut up, and turned to close the door. The old lady quickly pulled her .357 out of the console and shot the man in the chest, blowing him back out the door he was trying to close! Needless to say she wasn't charge with anything. Car jackings went down a good deal after that. Thinking of that story reminded me of Harry. How many of you used to listen to the morning show and "Live Wrestling"?

Ah the memories... Tojo Yamamoto, Saul Weingeroff, The Fargos, front row filled with big overalls (on the men and women LOL). Live Wrestling, Bob Brandy, who could ever forget Ingrid (I was in 8 year old kid in love), Miss Marsha, Dr Shock, Outdoor Safari. My wife grew up in Virginia and never got to see some of Chattanooga's finest TV. I wonder if any of those shows have tapes....

How I got an extra hamburger on the Bob Brandy Show.

I gotta tell you a true story about my time on Bob Brandy. If you remember the kids sat on a little section of bleachers. My seat happened to be on one end of the top row and they brought out the hamburgers. I had my hamburger about half eaten and during a commerical they brought in Rebel (the horse for you newbies) to stage him for the segment of tossing the silver dollars. He was standing there beside my end of the bleachers. I looked down the bleachers to talk to some one and felt something hitting my hand. I turned around and Rebel was helping himself to the rest of my burger!! emoLaugh So naturally, Ingrid gave me another one. A burger and a half from Ingrid.... emoHeart now THAT's living!

emoSorry emoHijack

Yep, I remember Harry Thornton well and also Bob Brandy. Actually I worked with Bob Brandy on some Sat. am kiddy shows at the old Rogers Theatre. I was the assistant mgr. at the time and he would put on a show every week. He was a really nice guy and the kids loved him. Didn't see much of Ingred however (wish I could have though).

I remember watching the show one time and a little 5-6 year old girl was giggling with the other kids that were standing around them and the host asked her what was so funny. She said - "Herman farted". They quickly changed the subject. Live TV. How funny. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I don't remember what it was called, but I remember a horse racing show sponsored by Golden Gallon. I think when you bought a gallon of milk or something you got a card with horses numbers. That might be the reason I like milk so much. Then you watched the TV show and if your horse won a race, you won something free from Golden Gallon.

Obviously I'm sketchy on details... but I well remember loving to sit and watch that show with the card(s) my Mom got and hoping to win something. Of course it probably went away because our fine legislators decided it was illegal or something.

I also remember Mom making me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (when peanut butter was safe), and settling down to watch "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday evenings.

Those were the days my friend,
We thought they'd never end .....

Disney on Sunday evenings (with the fireworks going off around the castle and actually getting to hear Walt Disney speak!) and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom! Those indeed were the days.

I was on the Bob Brandy show with my cub scout troop. Got to sit on Rebel. My granddad was a BIG "wrasslin" fan. I remember Harry ....ahhhhh the good old days.

If I remember hearing right the tapes from Thortons wrestling at the memorial auditorium were property of channel 12 but unfortunately were destroyed or misplaced. Dont know if it is true or not but seems like thats what I heard from a few of my wrestling buddies.

Dr Shock and Dingbat, Miss Marcia, Bob Brandy and Backyard Safari all are child hood memories. I use to love to watch Hee Haw just because it had some Buxom Babes on it. The music was bad, the jokes were worse but the girls were fine.

Does Marcia Cling still work at Channel Nine? I hate to tell this but I was a junior in High School and she was still reading my name off on her birthday list on the Miss Marcia Show.
