Re: B-TRACKER, Chick. This is going to make you sick. Fill net, Bass, 02/13/08, Wife
This is terrible to see! and what is sad is the lack of action against killing fish. I would like to know the difference between killing fish in nets and live-wells? A lot of people get this same feeling after a full day of fishing pulling up to the ramp (any ramp) and seeing dead bass floating after dozens of tourneys have been held at every access found. Gill net guys trying to make a living will always have dead fish in their nets as well as tournament fishermen, both are after a payday. In my opinion twra is limited on resources and has more to look after than Chickamauga reservoir. The previous suggestion as how the net guys should maintain their profession is awesome and would help regulate what they are doing. but what about all the tourneys and fish that die in live-wells. TWRA should look at this as well! Looks like there could be a few laws put in place to better monitor this as well like making all directors submit a roster of all members( boaters and non boaters), regulate how many tourneys can be held on the reservoir at on time not just each ramp, have an officer on site to fine every angler with a dead fish, limit how many tourneys each club has with fees for use of ramp, check each and every boater for intoxication, check each boat for leaking fuel and oil, designate areas that can be fished, and put enough officers on the water to monitor these regulations and the many more that could be added to this list as well as the list mentioned above for the net guys. Sounds to me like both type fishermen have some problems. The difference I see between the two is well nothing as a matter of fact seems there are as many fish killed on tourney as what are killed in nets! These guys may leave their nets to long as do tourney fishermen leave fish in the well to long. I get the aggravation we all have and seems to me there will always be a problem so accept it for what it is, do what you do, and shut up and fish! Pushing for harsher regulations on one party may result in harder regulations on the other.
