I like KVD crankbaits, rapalas and soft Flukes, basically anything topwater. Fish around any structure, blow downs, etc. Sunday caught 2 around 5 lbs each, and several small ones, near skull island in am.
 
Glad you're catching on, those are some nice fish to be your first ones! Read through some of the fishing reports on the forum to see the typical format and post your outings there. A date, time of day, approximate depth you caught the fish is a good starting point. Nobody's asking for your honey holes, but feel welcome to PM them to me emoLaugh
 
Got some crawdads at the local stream in abundant supply.....time to try using these for some live bait tactics....

Ok guys. So a few hundred bass later (Yes its that insane at my secret hole).... I've managed to land a few big ones. This is my new personal best. 8 lbs 5 oz.. Landed em on an ultralight setup with 6 lb line.

Bass below the dam are actively targeting Minnows. However in the calmer settings in the lake, Minnows are more of a random selection for Feeding.. a Bass can detect a distressed Minnow with a hook through it in the currents below the dam very easily.. Try My Free-line rig in the Lake and allow the Minnow to "Flounder" naturally while suspended. They will nose up flare their gills and suck it in...
