I want to thank Tndoe for taking me on my first hunting trip and making my trip something I will never experience again,” My First Deer. I must say she is an excellent guide. And boy do she know a lot about dear hunting. It was awesome, how many people ever get a 10 pointer, but on your first trip amazing.

We got to her “Honey Hut” around 6:00 ct it was still pretty dark. After about an hour things began to stir, we saw a few squirrels, bird began to chirp. We could hear a shot in the far distance...somebody got one. About 45 minute later Tndoe says deer. I look up the hill at a path near a cedar thicket and he is staring right at us. We freeze, and he stares us down for what seemed like forever. I was slowly trying to get the gun up when he decides to trot off. I don’t think we got busted he never flagged us. We think it was a button buck he was by himself and we would have let him walk anyway.

Another 30 minutes go by and Tndoe whispers get ready…false alarm Turkeys….3 of them come creeping out from the cedar thicket. Thirty minutes later I spot a buck on the other side heading for the food plot. It’s a spike, since it was my first trip we thought about trying to take him, but decided to let him walk. He was pretty skittish and I’m not sure would could have got a shot on him anyway. He gave us a long look and then flagged us on his exit.

Probably about an hour goes by and nothing. We could hear gunshots in the distance, but we were not seeing any movement of any kind. Then Tndoe whispers “shoot that buck”, “shoot that buck"….I look up the hill and there he is. I never really look to see his rack I just wanted make sure I concentrated on the shot (Tndoe had coached me the night before to block out everything except the target area). I quickly get the gun up and he is slowly walking( all I hear is Tndoe whispering “shoot that buck”, “shoot that buck”) I get him in the crosshairs and he is starting to walk a little faster. There is only about 15-20 yards before he enters the other thicket. HERE IS BEST PART…..I got him in the crosshairs but his still walking and then…. Tndoe gives a short…. “Maaaa”…. and he… STOPS….. he looks right at us… Shoulder in crosshairs and BOOM
he drops in his tracks.

I watch to see if he would get up and run…... 20 seconds go by and no movement…..then I notice a pain in my forehead. I look at Tndoe and said “I think I got to close to the scope”. I will let her finish that story, if she has quit laughing by now.

Looking back it is amazing how fast all this happened. Probably a good thing I didn’t have time to get nervous.

Thanks again Tndoe for a once in a life time memory.
