Is it just me... or do these people seem to have forgotten all courtesy on the water? emoConfused Yesterday, while on the water... sitting outside of the channel... hundreds of yards of water between me, all banks and the channels.... and these ppl still decide to drive their boats within casting distance of my boat while I'm sitting still, not bothering anyone... not even the fish ...lol One Battle Cruiser came by me at half speed, created a wake that completely covered the carpet in my boat with water.... I yelled at him... his wife turned to look, but that snobby weekend-skipper just kept his nose up in the air and never flinched. He was way out of the channel and had a third of a mile in any direction around me to have steered around me... but, he thought he needed to swamp my boat. Once yesterday, I was fishing a channel break about 200ft from shore, and another 50 ft from the channel.... and even a TWRA official ran high speed between me and the bank! .... there was so much more room for ppl to be running in the channel, yet they appear to want to run where ever I'm sitting.I ALWAYS give ppl room, go out of my way to stay away from folks on the water, try my best to be as courteous as possible.. but these folks that run by me and don't show me the same courtesy need to get their butts off of the water emoMad . Ok... I feel better now .... my Psychiatrist told me not to hold this stuff inside or it'll give me gas.... emoHoppingmad Can't we all get along emoBang ? TAz

We got out this morning around 5:30am now, still dark only to find this blooming idiot skiing or better yet attempting to ski, in the dark. Now, I debated on calling hamilton county dispatch to report or better yet keep someone from getting killed but decided not to because I'm sure TWRA was still asleep and wouldn't waste their time but talking about idiots on the water and it looked to be a child trying to ski to beat it all.

Sadly enough, last Tuesday while Davo and I were fishing, we had as many bass fisherman run us over as the lake lice. It's was the dogfight out of Harrison, then they proceeded to block the entire freakin ramp while we were trying to pull out.

Late Friday evening up around B & B Marina I had a skier decide how close could he get to me. I was moving in my bass boat, big motor - not trolling motor, and the boat passed about 30 feet away and the skier swung real close to us. If I had had my rod in my hand I could have clotheslined lined the idiot. I had my 3 year old out for his first ride in the boat and all that was a little close for me. After they passed me the dude jumped over a brush pile. I'm glad he got high enough, but I would have smiled had his toe got hung.

I have a hypothesis on why some boaters lack the common sense to navigate without disturbing other boats. Most of us know that the channel lies within the red and green bouys. However, to some the bouys are just decorations along the river. They navigate with the dot-to-dot method...with each boat on the lake serving as a dot.

Are you saying the Independence Day weeked was worse than normal? I often tight-line a catfish pole off a pier and ppl are always comming close to the yellow 30 lb spectra line. Annoying!
But a bit of wisdom you might want to consider is to stay away from the water on holiday weekends.

A one ounce jigging spoon will ensure careless boaters are aware of just how close they are to you. The other option is to fish a lake where jet skis are verboten, swimming is also and only fishing or simply burning 5 dollar marine gas are the two options available. Massive legal no wake zones and enforcement would put a crimp in jet skiers and battle cruisers plans, and would be considered a gas saving move.

I have had my line cut twice this year by boats coming to close. I keep forgetting to push the line release button on my reel so they can get all of my line around there props. I guarantee most of them do not know what line will do to there seals and lower units. emoBang emoEnforce emoLaugh

I don't understand why the "skippers" on the battlewagon cruisers feel the need to run buoy to buoy on the channel edge. Had two of the huge boats come by at less than 30 feet with throttle set on "Maximum Wake"... what Oblivions...

Up in the birchwood area, there doesn't appear to be as many boaters on most days. I went out on the 4th of july and fished from 10-2 and saw maybbe saw 5-6 boats in the mail channel. I was fishing around the hwy 60 bridge at the base of the bridge supports. Oh and I put in at the johnson rd ramp, which noone ever uses. It has a dock you can tie off too. Also it is about 3 miles away from grasshopper park.

Hey Moonman, don't give away the secret of all the peace and quiet up here around Birchwood/Sale Creek. I was one of those 5 or 6 boats you saw roaming around the Hwy 60 bridge (old burgundy and white Four Winns deck boat). I spend a lot of time on the water in that area south of the bridge so drop me a line sometime and maybe we can catch some fish.

This reminds me about stupid boaters in smaller craft. Tuesday night we were in Sale Creek Bay by Browns Bridge and saw what looked like a 16' john boat with an Evinrude pulling a tube. The boat had 5 adults and two kids in it and two more kids on the tube. I fumbled around for my digital camera to post a pic but then realized the first priority was to get away from them so as to not swamp them. We tried to keep an eye on them in case they needed a rescue service.

what's up Salecreekaviator...I live real close to browns bridge. I'm also one of the very few boats that stay around that area Moonman mentioned

I keep a D-22 tied on a 7ft spinning outfit. When one of those guys flies by me like that, I let him go the first time. But on the second time thru its bombs away.
