Wondering what folks are cooking up this year besides the traditional turkey?

I am doing a repeat of last year, and making a "Turducken".

It is awesome, except it is a P-ain to make the thing.

Also doing a fried turkey as well. Got 18 people for the feast this year, so need lots of grub!

A couple years ago, I took a wild turkey, cut the breasts off the bone, marinated them in Betty-Best (you gotta get some!) , and then grilled them. Sliced it up and it was one of the best things I have made EVER! My in-laws loved it, but dad-in-law says..."this was really good, but we like roasted turkey at Thanskgiving".

Spur since you brought up the subject of baked turkey, I have fixed a few over the years and I always used the brown n bags, recipe is on the box with cooking times and you will have a perfect turkey every time. We french fried one last year and it was ausum, injected with butter and dale's and lemon juice.

Spur you are a better man than me if you are still going to cook for him.emoWorthy

If I were cooking I would do a cajun fried turkey. We're not sure what we're doing this year though.

I AM..again.

Not sure what all Diane is cooking. All I have to do is get the wine, fry that bird and put the ham on the smoker. Oh...and EAT!

I'm smoking a ham for my Mother's Thanksgiving on Thursday, and a turkey for my house for Friday. I've also got a deer tenderloin marinating that i'll wrap in bacon and throw on the smoker Friday morning. I've conned my sister into making me some oyster dressing.

We are having Cajun Fried Turkey, pulled pork shoulder, and I'm going Sauger fishing Wednesday morning so hopefully we'll have fried sauger as well.

That's the best sounding TDay food I've seen yet.emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

So I'm not the only one that eats deer heart? I mentioned it to a buddy of mine one time and he thought that I was crazy. emoHungry

Deer heart sliced, battered and fried is one of the finest pieces of meat you will ever put in your mouth. I imagine the burgundy sauce Ronnie is talking about would be good too. Now heart is organ meat and is very bad for you if you have a tendency to get gout but it IS GOOD!
