In the early 80's a friend was driving on the River Canyon/Mullins Cove Rd and a large cat landed on the road in front of her. She said it loped along in front of her for a ways and its rump was even with the hood.

She said it was "all legs". I have assumed it was a large Bobcat but who knows.

An old hunting buddy used to tell of a big cat crossing the road in the Southern edge of the Smokies whose tail was over the centerline of the road when its head was at the edge of the pavement. This was 40 years ago.
