I drove by the ramps nearest to where I live to see their status.
All facilities at Rivermont Park are closed with yellow tape at the street entrance.
All facilities at Riverpark are closed.
All facilities at the Chickamauga Dam recreation area are closed.
The Chester Frost ramp and swimming area are open.

The ramp was open yesterday, but all the park area was closed. Also, Erwin has a ramp. I wonder if marinas might want to make a little cash for ramp fees?

I really don't understand closing wolftever. It is solely a ramp access and they could close the dock. Stupid move to hoard all these people to these tiny ramps.

I talked to erwin on saturday, they said that they will be shut down, and even boats that rent the slips will not have access when they do that. They were not aware of a closure date.

From TVA's daily internal news briefing:

TVA expands recreation closures.
In response to enhanced public health guidance from federal and state authorities, TVA is closing additional public recreation areas to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The closures began this morning.
TVA recreation areas at Chatuge, Cherokee, Fort Loudoun, Guntersville, Norris, Tellico and Watts Bar dams, as well as all recreation areas at Raccoon Mountain, will be closed. Recreation areas at Chickamauga and South Holston dams, and the Rockpile area near Muscle Shoals, Ala., were previously closed.
Boat ramps within the impacted areas will also be closed, as well as all picnic areas, restrooms, beaches, and pavilions. TVA river access points located at locations outside the affected recreation areas remain open at this time. Trails on the more than 200,000 acres of undeveloped public land TVA manages also remain open at this time.

I think you guys are missing the intention of closing the ramps. It is an effort to get people to stay home. Not to try and bunch up a couple of small ramps. If no one at your house has the virus and you stay home for a couple of weeks, you and your family should be safe. But heck what do I know. SMH

FWIW, I did a drive by this morning at the TVA rec areas around Lenoir City. Crappers and park at the Canal were roped off, but the Canal ramp and the ramp below Tellico dam were OPEN and occupied. Ramps off the Tellico Parkway run by the village were business as usual as well. Hoping TVA realized that their apparent reasoning for closing their ramps had little effect on keeping folks off the lake. Take care, folks!!

Someone explain to me what chance of contracting this virus I have by driving to the lake and putting my boat in the water and walking to my boat maintaining little to no social interaction and going fishing? This is why I fish. To get away from people and let me tell you it works phenomenally well for me.

Do you stop and fill up with gas? Stop and get something to eat? If you wore gloves to pump gas and paid at the pump, that would limit your exposure. I am all for fishing. I just don't understand people still not social distancing.

I do not stop and eat and I get gas every 3rd time I go on average. I also use a glove to pump gas. You can't group everyone in the same category. Either force everyone to stay in their house or let people choose their path. Halfway doing something isn't going to work in my opinion.

this virus has been shown to be HIGHLY contagious, airborne and live on metal surfaces for over 17days.........BUT it has also been shown to LESS lethal than the flu or even the flu vaccine for people who are otherwise healthy. the BIG thing that has yet to be revealed due to limited testing capability is the number of people who already have or have had it and are/were asymptomatic. there are those among the scientific medical community that think this is FAR MORE widespread than we know and overkill for a virus that MANY have already been exposed to without affect.

i have a immediate family member who is in the HIGHEST of risk groups. we have taken steps to protect them as best we can and thats all we can do, knowing that if they become infected and it goes badly they wont likely survive. we have prepared for this, it will suck but we know the risks and are doing what we can personally to protect them WITHOUT affecting the rights of others.

I am all for protecting people's rights as well. I just think uncommon, common sense should prevail in times like these. I would hate to think that I exercised my right to get out and run around and I contracted the virus. Being healthy and not showing any symptoms I continue to exercise my rights and in doing so I expose you to the virus. You then, in turn, give it to your high-risk family memeber and they die. This death could have clearly been avoided had I had enough sense to stay at home unless absolutely necessary. I will stop trying to explain this. I just pray none of your family or mine get it.

i fully understand your point but disagree with the subversion of ANY RIGHT OF ANY PERSON in the name of possible safety but appreciate your concern.
