We fished a club tournament out of Harrison Bay today. We headed to our first spot but a friend of ours that owns an Allison beat us to it. Oh well we head to our second spot. We start catching fish right off the bat. I think the rain helped this spot. We are fishing shallow wood. Not our first choice but it is working. We caught fish on worms and other assorted plastics. I did catch a couple of fish around the shallow wood on a Scum Frog. I like that bait. We wear this area out and move to another spot. This spot is a ledge near the river channel. I catch a good keeper on the first cast. A couple of minutes later Blake sets the hook and the fight is on. He thinks it is big but probably a catfish. I look at the line and I tell him that is a head shake not a body roll. It rolls up beside the boat. I can tell it is a good bass but I didnt get a good look because of the rain. It makes a few runs and we get it in the net. I figured it weighed 7.25 lbs. Blake is now on the back deck doing a dance. It sort of looked like Mike the Ike trying to dance like Micheal Jackson. emoLaugh He needs to work on his celebration dance. A couple of minutes later I catch another good fish on a Shakey Head. We move again. This spot doesnt pay off. We decide to see if our first spot is freed up now. We run back to the spot and no one is there. We cull another fish on the Shakey Head. We catch a few more keepers that wont help. We decided to give the shallow wood pattern another try, since it is still raining. Blake catches a couple fish on a creature bait. I pick up a top water lure and bam. We cull again. Couple of casts later another fish. We cull again. That was all the culling we did today. We probably caught 4 or 5 limits of keepers today. I dont have any idea how many fish we caught but my thumbs are sore. Our best five weighed 18.5 lbs and the big fish weighed 6.95 lbs. It wasn't that great but we did finish first and Blake had big fish. It was a great day on the water and the sun came out just in time for the weigh in. Man I had a blast today. We caught fish in 2 ft. to 22 ft. of water today. It didnt seem to matter as long as your bait was in or on the water.
