Fished the middle of the lake today. The weather was great but the fishing was tough. It looked like the water was down since I went last
week. I started out trying to catch a limit of Crappie. This is the first time since 1981 I have Crappie fished. I only managed to catch 1 keeper. I did catch a nice Warmouth. Man that thing was a blast on my Crappie rod. I gave up on catching dinner and decided to try and catch some Bass. I hit some of the same spots I caught fish on last week. Nothing not a single bite. Water temp was 64 degrees so I moved shallow. Caught a couple of small male bass on my way shallow. That was all I caught. I fished from 6" to 10'. I threw everything
I had in the boat at them. The only thing I got a bass to hit was a T-Mac Shakey head worm.

A year or so ago I read a post on this forum about trolling for crappie, I think Jmax was the author. But since then, anytime I'm trying to put dinner in the boat and I can't find them bunched up, I start trolling. Four lb. test, eighth oz. jig, BG's or Crappie Magic, troll weed lines or any cover that hold crappie. I was going bass fishing yesterday and my wife wanted to go, she loves to drown minners but she broke her left arm about a month ago and with a cast from below her elbow to her wrist, I told her we'd troll for crappie while I fished for bass. We trolled grass lines on the lower end of Nickajack in 5 to 10 ft. while I threw traps, square bills, jerk baits, and swim jigs and caught nothing. While I was working my butt off, she caught eight crappie. So after a couple of hours, I started helping her. We caught twenty five crappie, kept eight from 11 to twelve and a half inches. They were scattered, you'd get one and then ten minutes later you'd pick up another. So, even with the muddy water and a front coming through every two days, trolling catches fish.
