We put in a Grasshopper. Fished shallow all day. We found water temps from 60 to 64.8 degrees. We caught several fish on a Beaver and lipless crankbait. Our biggest fish was 5 lbs. He is only 7 years old but he loves fishing. He learned to run the trolling motor and cast at the same time today. He was pumped. We had to pass a couple of the VOL Navy yachts on the way up the river.
Going over those rollers was something else. On the way home he said Dad this is the best day of my life. Before I could ask why he says it would have been a great day even if we didn't catch a fish. It was nice to be out with just me and you. He is a great kid.
I just hope he stays that way.

great post, thanks for sharing. that young man will share that story with friends for the rest of his life. he now has an addiction...a good one. by the way, I put in at Grasshopper creek on Thursday, we may have crossed paths. I did not have much luck with the crappie.

When you hear that it makes you want to stop and hug that young man. I know that you were proud of that moment .

I have a bright red Bullet with Sand-colored stripes. If you see me flag me down. I always like to meet fellow CFF members.

Great story and great fishing trip. My son went with me from around 6 or 7 and shares his fond memories of being out on the water too. Great days but they sure go by fast. He is 55 now. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the report.

Great story ---all parents who understand and apply this will have better kids ---the effort will not go unnoticed by the kids and they will carry those memories all therir lives!!!!! Tim Irwin --former UT VOL and GREENBAY Player got a law degree at UT----after his nfl career ends he became a juevinle court judge in Knoxville. It was reported he made this statement. " I have never had a young person stand before me in a court matter who posesed a fishing/hunting liscence"

Great story! I have 2 daughters ages 7 & 9 and take them with me every chance I get. I hope to one day be their boat captain for high school fishing if they continue to enjoy the sport. I try to teach them each time about proper fishing etiquette since I see so many now days that have no respect for their fellow angler.
