anyone ever own or have a Cabela's Guidewear jacket??? They have several different ones. insulated,uninsulated.......i need something to keep me warm and dry this winter, and dry in the spring summer and fall. i'm thinking a Guidewear with a removable liner of some sort will work for all seasons. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks in advance;)

Jack I have the uninsulated parka and I believe it to be the best wet weather gear available. I got a size bigger than I need so I can use it over other winter clothes or just wear it over a T shirt if it's not too cold. Very good and very well made stuff.

Totally agree w/ Cheez. Guideware is the best out there. I would also go with the uninsulated big enough to add layers. I have the insulated bibs and jacket and they are heavy. My set has seen at least 10 years of hard use and is going strong. If I can ever wear them out, I'll replace them with the uninsulated. Money well spent IMO.

Cabela's has great gear and is some of the best on the market. However, I buy Columbia Vertex. The gortex outer shell is fabulous with or without the liner. With the liner it is as warm as anything I have ever warn. Just moved here from Minnesota after living there for 17 yrs. I have snowmobiled, ice fished and spent a lot of time in WAY below zero weather outdoors. Have never once been cold or felt bad for buying this coat. Honestly, I wear the liner - which is very nice and looks great, without the outer shell. It is not "waterproof" but I have hunted and fished with it and it repells well enough that light rain or drizzle you still stay dry. I don't even put on the outer shell unless I am ice fishing or out playing in the snow with my kids. But since moving to TN, I have only warn the outer shell on the lake and fishing in the rain twice. I don't feel there is a better product on the market. Talk to the knowledgeable people at Sportsman's Warehouse. However, my coat is orange and white - purposefully so I am easily seen fishing or on the trail. They don't make a camo pattern to my knowlege. Costs between $200 - $300. Don't overlook Columbia gear... it's the best in my opinion.

Guidewear is by far the best stuff on the market. I have guidewear insulated parka and bibs and they are very good. They are very warm though so if it gets above 5O or so you will almost be too warm. I also have the cabelas snowsuit that I wear most of the time due to comfort. I would sell you the parka and bibs but they are 2X tall bibs and I believe the parka is 3X tall. I just prefer the snowsuit for comfort.
