Hey All,

Just wondered if anyone's been fishing Carters Lake for stripes lately. Have not been up there in a month of Sundays, as I'm living in "civilization" again:( Have an acquaintance who lives next to the lake and wants me to go out with him on his pontoon boat for stripers.

Is the top water bite still OK in the evenings? Where have they been catchin' em? Am mostly looking at artificial action, not live bait.

Also if anyone has any recent info on the spots, that'll be cool, too.

Thanks for any and all info!

emoWelcome BobG603 from the Drumking. Don't know a thing about Carter's lake. I fish WB tailwaters for stripers when I go. That's not very often. Someone downthere ought to know though. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Thanks Drum King!

Am a regular of the Dead Sea Mafia- Allatoona- just figured there were some folks up your way that fished Carters... Where's Louie? (LBTriton)

emoWelcome He's around. I am sure that he will chime in when he sees this.

You are too far south from me. Ever fish Rocky Mountain or Weiss?

I used to be part of that mafia untill about 12 years ago when I moved to chattanooga . Dad still fishes allatoona quite a bit as usual he says it's pretty tough.

Haven't fished Weiss- have heard lots about it, and hope to soon. Haven't heard about the other lake. Was thinking about going camping up there at Harrison Bay- is it good? Am looking for good shore access- fairly level (I use a wheelchair). Up til this past season I was living in Ellijay, so Carters was my go-to lake, but only by boat. Now, I only live a mile from the Toona, and I use my float boat or go out with friends. I love catching those Spots, they've got some shoulders given their size!

Yeah, Allatoona can be a real humbling experience- in some ways very similar to Carters-deep water/steep bluffs/rock/lots of bait. It also has some big stripers, hybrids. Except Carters has no where near the number of yahoos on every kind of water craft imaginable....To me, Carters is tough, but rewarding. Even if you get skunked, you still have spent a beautiful day on a huge lake with no houses and very little boat traffic.

Many good campsites at HBSP. Beautiful park. Good facilities. One of Tennessee's best.

Bob nice to hear from you. I've been extremely busy and haven't been online much the past couple of months.

The striper bite is not as good as it was, however you can catch them if you get there early. Topwater is very slow but if you will freeline around the mainlake points and humps early you will catch some stripers. The same areas that we fished on our trips will produce fish right now. Good luck let me know how you do.

May check with Robert Edison with First Bite Guide Service. He's at Lanier, Allatuna, etc, etc, where ever the fish are biting. He's also a member on here as well. He may know someone that you can contact.
