Gary I bet if you pay your processing fee and fish the next tournament you might get a nomination. Kind of funny you always come around this time of year.

CHRIS MAYBE SOME OF THE RULES AND REG. AND SOME OF THE THINGS THAT GO ON IS WHY I DID" NOT FISH THIS YEAR. I THINK YOU DID A GREAT JOB THIS YEAR I HELPED OUT SOME EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT FISH.I WANT IT TO GET BACK TO A 100 BOATS AGAIN AND IT CAN. THANKS GARY

Gary that sounds like a campaign speech. I will look forward to the debate following live wrestling on Spike TV.

I have spoken to Gary and agree with him.

1. Shorter tx hours - weigh in at 3:00 instead of 4:00
2. Lower entry fee
3. Potential lie detector test
4. Way too many people making hole baiting accusations. Make a rule and enforce it.
5. As I stated earlier - speed up the weigh in process

These are my suggestions. If you don't share my opinion that's fine.

1. Tx hours are set to accommodate the fisherman who lock through to Watts Bar and Nickajack. I can remember when the summer tournaments were 12 hours.
2, A lower entry fee would not allow us to have the payout and level of tournament that we do.
3. A random polygraph test is always possible in any CBA event.
4. Not quite sure what you mean on this one.
5. I can guarantee you we do the weigh-in as fast as possible.

Opinions are great, that is were ideas come from.

CHRIS TX. HOURS SET TO ACCOMMODATE THE FISHERMAN IS NO EXCUSE, I HAVE SEEN THEM LOCK THUR IN 3 HR. TOURN. AND WIN. I RAN ALL THE WAY BELOW W.BAR DAM AND FISHED AND WON A MONDAY NIGHT DOGFIGHT. LOWER ENTRY IF YOU PICK 30 TO 40 BOATS COULD HAVE A BIGER PAYOUT THAN YOU HAVE NOW. IF YOU WANTR TO KEEP ALL THE MONEY UP FRONT KEEP IT LIKE IT IS NOW AND KEEP THE SAME 40 TO 50 BOATS. GARY

New guys cant and wont pay those entries month after month. It would be like one of us paying to fish the Pro side of an FLW event. You need to change things drastically, or nothing will change. Simply put, its boring to pay that kind of money, on the same ol lake, watching the same ol guys getting a check, and then whine about who was too close to them or fishing another one of their brushpiles. I dreaded each and every one I fished, except for the Classic.

CBA has held a good number of boats but the general dicussions people have had with me are:

1. They dont have the time to put in to compete with the "Elite" Sorta the same people always up there in the money.
2. They cant afford 120.

Break out a new division of CBA like I mentioned and I think it would work. Whats it hurt to try? 1 year doing that wont hurt anyone or CBA.

Still going to have to change a few things or the amateur division would be full. emoSmile New guys/Teams are great, but you have to make it interesting for the existing Teams/guys. Go back and ask some of the Veterans why they had 150 boats back in the day.

I don't think it would hurt it over all. The big money will pull enough in, 50-60 teams I would think. Pay that one out deeper like mentioned. Leave a standard payout for the amateur series without prizes. Maybe a certificate or whatever 1 place out of the money.

I don't really like the amateur division idea. Plenty of smaller clubs to fish if you don't want to man up. Shorter hours, lower entry, and get rid of that assinine $10 redraw and I think it would be better. I also think officers should have to draw #'s like everyone else and I would recommend maybe adding Nickajack and Watts Bar and possibly guntersville with no locking through allowed.

I have read most of the posts and see a lot of good suggestions. An amateur division is a great idea.

After a few years an organization develops tunnel vision. They are so focused on the plan and the event that they forget what got them where they are at. It is natural and it happens in every human event. To find the answer to your future you sometimes need to look to your past.

A huge opportunity for CBA is to recognize the value of the farm leagues. They are held all over the river on almost every night of the week. These little dogfights are a healthy mix of beginners, midrange and some advanced anglers that want to fish tournaments and just don't have the confidence to fish the big TXs. Build these guys up, visit them, help them out and invite them to join and you might be surprised at how quaickly you grow.

How many dogfights does CBA visit and encourage each year? Do you view them as competition or as a breeding ground for future CBA members? Do you ever scout these tournaments and look for potential CBA members?

I think that is the main problem Kirk. Most of them are viewed as competition and I would even go as far to say that most are viewed to be "hammering" the fish to much and causing negative results as far as the CBA is concerned. This is where a common ground needs to be reached, and I think your suggestion may have just hit the nail on the head. The CBA does not own the lake. Period. I don't care how long they have been around. And that is the assumption that most of the CBA anglers seem to have. BUT, if the CBA would start coming out to some of those dogfights and getting to know the anglers while promoting their monthly Txs, thus creating friendships and fellowship with them and show them that they are all welcome to join them. I think a lot of the amateur anglers think that they are looked down upon by the CBA, in turn leading them to have animosity towards the trail and not wanting to fish it. I think a lot has to do with the CBA officers. Take Justin for instance. Justin is just a good ol boy that can strike a common ground with dang near anybody from around these parts. He's got his country roots, but he is intelligent and can hold good conversations and debates with someone. He is quick to lend a helping hand, even to a perfect stranger, and he is the kind of guy that needs to be out spreading the GOOD things about the CBA.

just my $.02

Oh and on recrutiment, do you have a strategic plan for recruitment the next 10 years? As older members stop fishing or others move away do you have a plan to replace them? Youth fishing is a good place to start. Plant your own seeds for future members by having some youth events.
