Tale of two half days. Dry in the morning,wet the rest of the day. Mike and I headed upstream to start. Fished docks, weed lines and finally around Racoon mtn. Was a dink fest, for the few we caught. Threw jigs, topwater, cranks, plastics, not very encouraging.
Made a big change second half of the day. Ran way down lake, started fishing around the bridges. Still only catching non keepers. Changed to a flat, 6-8 fow, weeds up 2-3 foot. Rain started, and we began catching keepers. Mike gets two on a Senko, suprise, including our big fish, 3 1/4#, I get one on a rogue, color Lady. Tried DT6 and DT 4, caught too much grass, the jerkbait stayed above the weeks. Caught all our weigh fish within the first hour of rain. Fished back to weigh in. Ended with 8 3/4 # or so. Ended with 1st, and big fish. First win of the year.
Thanks to the committee for another good event, just need more folks to join with us. Good seeing old friends at the event. See everyone at the classic next month.
