CFF Cat Battle Results/Reports 8-6-2006

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

Thanks guys but don't give me too much credit, there was a good bit of luck envolved. I have been skunked the last two times I fished this spot. We fished for about 3.5hrs and landed 12 blues from 15-42lbs with most of them right around 20. We probably missed as many as we landed emoBang
I decided to try for a big fish up on the lake. With some of the reports and pics being posted over the last few weeks I figured it would take something big to win. The spot I went to has given up some big fish in the past. The 42 was a lot of fun, but I couldn't believe how many bites and runs we were getting. Our four biggest fish were caught before 8:30 after that it was nothing but 20lbers. We moved once to try and find some bigger fish, but we ended up finding more 20's. We left at 10:30 with the fish still biting. I'll go ahead and post this pic, I made a mental note to smile.

Good job guys, nice cats.

Hey DRC what's with the towel, scared of a little slime???emoPoke

After just 3.5hrs that towel was completely covered in slime, I threw it away back at the ramp. It felt like it weighed 5lbs and stunk BADemoVomit
Without that towel I would have to shovel it out of my boatemoLaugh

Good job with the cats guys! I can't believe that drc managed a 42 lb'er in all this hot weather but I guess that goes to show the cat fish don't mind. I am still wondering if the "Spam" thing is for real? Maybe Dhaun is messing with us? I'm gonna be on the safe side and stock up. If the cats don't eat it I will.

Thanks for the tourney guys. I'm posting pictures for the first time. It seems cruel to post our tadpoles alongside those monsters of drc and simalot's. Let's see if this works.

Congratulations to all the winners!!!! We had to skip this one but we are looking forward to the next one. How about it DHaun? You guys did such a great job on this one -----When's the next one? Sept???.emoThumbsup

September would work for me.

Yes, lets have another CPR Cat Tournamant like this some time! I'm in it for the fishing reports, sharing of info, and meeting other anglers. I learned quite a bit talking to some of the members face to face after this tournament but was hoping to generate a few more fishing reports out of it for the site. I'm hoping a few more anglers can report on their experiences and hopefully there will be more able to make it to the next one.

Fishing Reports are one of the primary purposes of all CFF organized tournaments regardless of species so if the site gets responses from anglers enough to organize another one I'll do it in a heartbeat. I think we need more than 10 to make a Tx out of it and I think the "Cat Battle" should remain an annual high-profile event so I would like to think of another name for any that may follow.

RE: Spam

I often fish with chicken breast filets. I tell all my clients that if we don't catch any fish, we can always go home and eat the bait!! emoLaugh

And I do love fried Spam!

I'm with you rsimms, drc is the real deal when it comes to cats. We fished one of the late winter bass CFF tournaments and we talked about cats for much of the time. drc has caught lots of big cats lots of places and really understands where to find them. I had a great time sharing my boat with him a few months ago, maybe he'll take me catfishing one of these days(hint, hint).
