Afternoon folks!

Well it was another great CFF Tx, and I'll let Flip and BBass post the results.

TritonCarl and I started in a flurry as Flip yelled CFF GO! We dropped the trolling motor and puttered about 30 yards from the ramp.

We found a nice point with some scattered grass around it, near a boat dock, water temp was 55 and it was 2-5 feet deep. The grass was milfoil, and it was nice and green. within a couple of hours we had boated 12 bass, 5 of which (or we thought) were keepers. All on Cordell Royal Red Super Spots. I think one of the fish shrank in the livewell, because he came up 14 3/4 inches before the weigh in :)

We finished with 4 fish for 8+ lbs. Not very good, the wind was awful, but we just enjoyed the day on the water.

Well today was much better than practice Friday. TnDoe and I started out in Mudd Creek, along with 20 other boats, and within 30 minutes TnDoe caught one that weighed 6.71lbs. Then about 20 minutes later she boated another fish. Catching those 2 fish that quickly helped us feel confident about what we were doing. We worked Mudd Creek most of the day. We moved in and out and worked an area not much bigger that a football field, throwing traps and later in the day when the wind picked up we threw spinnerbaits. By 10:30 we had a limit. Every fish we caught was a keeper, and came out of less than 3ft. of water. We culled a couple of times. I lost a 5lber. with about an hour to go, he came out of the water and spit out my spinnerbait. We caught a total of 8 fish all keeper.

TnDoe I had a great time today.

Right time right place planed on fishing the shriner tourny but partner had to work so decided to fish the cff tourny instead. Haven't been to the G this year so I went in blind. Fished areas that have produced in the past. Threw Traps and a Cutthroat spinnerbait. Sorry I can't go into more detail because the Tenn\Coosa tourney is next weekend out of shellmound on Nickajack and I'm Locking Through. Like always enjoyed fishing the cff tourny that was a awesome fish tndoe270 caught and a awesome bag of fish for her and Bassbullet congrats.

Davo and I started within site of the ramp. I was listening to Davo's marlin story when I got hammered by the first keeper (note: fish hit on pause). Shortly there after, I got another keeper in the boat. We also caught two Shorts before heading down river. We started near the mouth of Roseberry trying some humps and bars, but the wind was bad. We worked our way up river where I got another keeper near some docks. Surprise of the day was the 14.5" spot that about pulled me out of the boat. he was in 3ft of wateremoScratch Davo completed our limit with another keeper. We got soaked on the way back to Mudd where we cullled the spot with another keeper with minutes to go. I just wanted to weigh a limit today and although they are minnows compared to the others weighed in, I had a ball! Thanks for the trip Davo! Holler at me anytime you feel like netting some fishemoPoke

BTW-all fish were caught on royal red and royal shad Xr50s.In 2-5ft.

It was great to see everyone! Congrats to all who weighed in the hogs! NICE FISH!!!!

As most of you know me and rooster(dad) and little bomber(son) missed blast off by about 10 mins.I did`nt have flips number at that time so I could`nt call to let him know.So we figured we would just fish and come watch the weigh-in to met some of the people from the site.We went to the back of mud-creek to start.About 15 mins. rooster hooks up on a short fish 5 mins.later he has a keeper. We decide to hold on to our keepers just to see at the end of the day how we done.A little while later I tied on a chatterbait and got a 4.5 on about the 3rd cast.In the next hour I had 2 more keepers,Which give us a total of 3 keepers.Next fish was our 4th An 8-10 hog.My biggest ever.We then had a couple more keepers and then a 6-5 My 2nd biggest ever.At that point I called skeeter to get flip`s number. We knew we could not win anything but with a bag like that we wanted everyone to see.(Probaly will never happen agian). After we talked with flip and made sure when weigh-in was we fished another few hours.Rooster caught a couple good fish in the last couple hours that let us cull a few.We ended up with about 12 keepers and 3 shorts with a 5 fish total of 27.87 pounds. The other thing that made this a great day was my 4 yr.old son never stopped fishing all day even though he never caught a fish.We did let him roll about 5 of ours in and handle the net.I took him some toys and a dvd player but he only wanted to fish.(PROUD DAD)

Skeeters going to post the pics. for me I don`t have that part figured out.

CCSM and I had a wierd day compared to everyone else. It sounds like most caught their better fish this morning and for us it was this afternoon.
emoScratch To start with I started down a bank where a 3 and 4.5 came from yesterday when me and FishenVol were fishing it and we got notta. Then crossed over to another little hot spot stump field and there I got two in the boat with one that would keep. I thought that would be the start for us but instead it was the end for a while. There were people hitting fish all around us but for some weird reason we could not get any on. We did manage a couple more around 9 total but no keepers. I finally wanted to go back and hit the area we started and they were there this time but no size.emoBang Managed a keeper about 2.5 and that was at the time our biggest. Moved again to two more places and nothing. Finally at 1:45 with us having caught 15 bass but only two keepers we moved to a hot hole that I catch them in sometimes and when I got there, there sits Tndoe and BassBullet in the exact place I wanted to be.emoBang I will hand it to those ladies they found my spot and I didn't tell them anything.emoWorthy I had to pull up short of where I wanted to be but it all was good. About the third cast a 3 lber slammed the Lucky Craft lipless baits I had on(half red and half yellow). Then right behind that about three cast later the big one for the day for us hit it, 4.95 lbs. emoTongue I thought one more and we can go in with a limit at least. We tried in there for about 30 minutes more and talked to flip, bbass, tndoe and Bassbullet for a minute. The ladies were sandbagging saying they only had 15 lbs.emoRolleyes Everyone started heading back to the landing and there was still 30 minutes left.emoConfused I told CCSM we needed to hit another place like the one where I had just caught the two back to back so we moved down to the next pocket to see. Could not believe it when again on the third cast a 4 lber nailed my LC.emoTongue We had our limit and still had 20 minutes. I told him if we could just get rid of the one 15 incher we may have a chance. About ten cast later a good solid 17 incher tried to take my rod away. Culled out the 15 and said I bet we have 16 lbs now and I was satisfied at least with our showing. Tried for 5 minutes more but had to head in.emoSorry

I had told several that since I was with CCSM we would be first out of the money and for the, I think, eighth time we have made the first out of the money spot. Today was even a double for us. First out of the money on both placement and Big Bass.emoBang Another member said, "I bet you wished that the Grey Bomber had made it and you would have been in the money at forth." I replied, "No, if the Grey Bomber had made it we would had been fifth at first out of the money."emoRedface I swear the two of us as a pair have that spot locked up.emoEvil We cannot seem to get a check.

In all seriousness we had a great time and congrats to all the winners. I was very happy to see the ladies come though today. I knew we have some on the CFF that can catch fish so it is about time they showed us how to do it.emoThumbsup Jmax

That was the best bag I have ever been up close to. Congrats on the PB times 2. That is a fisherman in the making for sure to have fished all day in those conditions, great job guys.emoCool

Not much to say, I did everything everybody else did but got lucky and caught a few good fish. The mourning started out throwing traps in the back of Mudd Creek, within the first few mins boated three keepers. Fished about 1 hour more and I landed our big fish, about 6 1/2lbs on a trap. Caught one more keeper in Mudd before we left. Went out on the channel and got beat to death and wasted about two hours and decided to head back to Mudd Creek. Finished up there catching four more solid keepers which culled our first four keepers. Never should have left the area. Maby could have caught another good fish to push us to the twenty mark. Anyway 17 1/2lbs is not bad for the second time on the BIG GUN. This is now my favorite place to fish. I believe I am going to try and talk my wife in to moving down here lol. All fish were caught on traps in two to three foot of water, water was stained bad and around 55 deg by the end of the day. The color of traps were NOT RED believe it or not. We caught the majority of our fish on a bluegill pattern, but the big fish and another keeper came on an altered color trap that I rigged up. Great to meet everybody and can't wait till the next Tx on the GUN.

I wish I could have been there .. but at the same time the extreme wind we had here today made me glad I didnt try to tow my boat with my Rav4 all the way down there and then get blown off the road on the way home .. I was up on a ladder and got blown off today .. Thats some powerfull wind to blow my big ol butt off a ladder.. even saw a couple big pines blown over today I dont know what it was like on the water but I have a feeling it want easy. Im sure glad the fishing was better this yr over last yrs CFF march Guntersville TX

What a difference a day can make. To go out yesterday and not have a single fish but to come back today with a nice stringer was incredible. We decided last night stay in Mud Creek, throw rattle traps all day and learn something. We didn't have to learn alot about patience since we had only fished roughly 30 minutes til I hollered get the net! Neither one of us realized at that time that the fish was over 6 lbs. We were able to boat another 3 keepers and bullet decided to slow her trap down somewhat when she boated our 5th keeper and it was only 9:30 or so. A short time later we were able to boat our 6th keeping fish so we had to pull out the cull therefore we had to weigh them at that time and we weighed the big fish also to find it was a 6.8 lber on bullets scales. After we caught the 6th fish, all I was thinking at that time was 5 1/2 hours more of trap work. We were lucky enough to cull the smallest by around 11 and I requested some ben gay or icy hot, to which bassbullet doesn't keep in her boat nor does she keep advil to which I also needed by now. We stuck with the trap until the wind got nasty, then resorted to spinnerbait. We caught 2 more keepers and bassbullet had one come unbuttoned or better yet spat the spinnerbait bait right back to her around 1 or so. All I heard was a big splash to look up and see her saying, "did you see how big that fish was?" Unfortunately we were not able to catch anymore unlike others who found the wind to their advantage later in the day. Congrats to bumblebeekid for an outstanding bag of fish. We had a great time today and bassbullet, you are an outstanding partner!! Great job catching/netting the fish and on the trolling motor especially with the conditions.

I bet the wind was terrible today? Looks like you had an AWESOME day SKEETER, those are some pretty hawgs. Glad you guys were on the water and had a great time, I had to clean house today. emoBang

Tritojon_e and I stayed in Mud Creek all day fighting the wind. Caught both of our keepers fairly early on a pumpkinseed trap. Looked like a decent day was shaping up for us. John had a good one on before it wrapped itself around a stump and broke off. I let two come off that would have kept. We caught a few nonkeepers the rest of the day on traps and blades. Turned out to be a disappointing day all around. We fished much of the day fairly close to Gray Bomber. They however, were whacking them and we weren't.

Triton4bass, My awsome day was spent at work. The pics were my Brother (Gray Bomber), Dad and Nephew. Although I would have much rather been on the water even if it was windy.

I enjoyed getting to hang out with all of ya'll before, during, and after the weigh in. Good conversation and laughs.

Pointer looking forward to fishing Wheeler with you!

Thanks Flip for putting on a great tournament. I am looking forward to hosting another Guntersville tournament out of Goosepond in June. Check the calendar folks!

Me and my partner T.Ditmore decided to run up to crow creek first thing. Water was muddy but about 52 degrees. Fished for about 3 hours and missed a couple.. Saw three or four nice size bass come completely out of the water up on a flat.. throwed everything but the kitchen sink but couldnt get no one to play..Ran downriver looking for some calmer water and ended up catching a nonkeeper on a chatterbait... Finally decided to join the party in Mudd and ended up catching one a piece in a matter of minutes all on a red trap... caught a few more small ones but never got on the big bite.. congrats to the winners for some nice fish brought in. Wind is about as bad as I had ever seen. Had to crank up the big motor more than once to keep us off the bank..

I had a person ask what we caught ours on and realized I never said except the one bait. We caught almost all of them on some kind of lipless crank. I believe we used a rapala craw dad color, a x50 excaliber chartruse and green, a royal shad rattle trap, and the big save bait was the Lucky Craft lipless that was a weird top half red and bottom half yellow. I used it because I would not make up my mind between red or chartruse. It was also lighter than a regular rattle trap and I think it allowed me to real slower and still keep it out of the grass. Oh, I almost forgot that CCSM did catch a couple on a blue grub.emoScratch I bet he was the only one throwing that yesterday.emoSmile I hope this helps some of you guys that have Txs coming up down there. keep us posted on the results.emoThumbsup Jmax

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you didn't bring in a big sack...you didn't fish Mudd Creek! Swamp Donkey and I started in a creek off the river throwing traps, thinking it would be better to avoid the crowd in Mudd. We came up empty fishing the grassy flats and then came upon a rocky transition on the shore. I quickly tied on a black-n-blue jig and boated two keepers. We then ran over to Crow Creek, only to find that run-off had left us with about 3" of visibility. SD called TnDoe and she told him that they were culling and still in Mudd Creek

. We ran back down to where they were and started throwing the traps in a small cove. On about the third cast, I got nailed and then felt the line go slack. A couple of BFL guys cast to the same spot and reeled in a fat keeper. "You're right on top of where I just caught a 25lb sack!" the guy said as they left. We backed off found that we had been sitting on a small, stumpy ridge. A few casts later I boated a 4.5lbr after my trap smacked a stump. Immediately the wind picked up, making it nearly impossible to fish the spot. With an hour or so left, we left Mudd Creek and fished a small protected cove for a couple non-keepers.

I'm still in awe after my first trip to Guntersville. I can't recall ever seeing so many fat, healthy largemouths at one time. While waiting in line to load SD's boat, I watched the BFL guys weigh sack after sack of 4lb plus fish. Our weigh-in was the same, if not better. Alabama should be proud of such a fine bass fishery.

Two quick questions:

1. Was everyone throwing 1/2oz traps? Or did anyone fish 1/4oz to 3/8oz? On our last stop, a couple of guys caught a small limit fishing behind us with traps. However, they were not spending as much time smacking off weeds and were definitely fishing slower.

2. Did anyone throw a Chatter Bait? It's the one lure I left at home that I quickly found myself wishing I had brought.
