We had a good turnout this morning with 14 teams showing up to fish a very stingy Weiss lake. It was good to see that the fog wasnt going to hold us up but a pretty stout cold front pushed through bringing some moderate rain, lots of wind and cool tempertures. We weighed in some fine looking fish, with over half of them being Spotted Bass. The tough conditions didnt seem to affect Biofisher and partner Bo Batey, they won the tournament with a nice limit weighing 11.44 pounds anchored by the 2nd big Bass that weighed 4.57. 2nd place went to JDees and partner Johnny P. with another good bag that weighed a close 10.80 pounds with a nice 3.67 pound kicker Largemouth and a Spotted Bass over 3 pounds. Big Bass went to Tom and Doug, it was a short very chunky Largemouth tipping the scales at 5.15 pounds. Thank you to everybody for showing up and for donating part of the entry for the 2007 CFF picnic. Fish weighed are listed below, I dont know all of the CFF user names.

1) Biofisher & Bo Batey 11.44 big fish 4.57
2) JDees & Johnny P. 10.80 big fish 3.67
3) Kevin & David 8.14 big fish 2.78
4) Roy D. & Charles B. 6.48
5) BBass & flip1up 5.94 big fish 3.74
6) Blake & Jeff 5.33
7) Tom & Doug 5.15 big fish 5.15

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Good job guys. Sounds like you all had a good day despite the weather. Can't wait to see the pictures. There was a tournament up here past knoxville on douglas lake today. 6 pounds was all it took to win it. Sounds like yall did a lot better than that.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Thanks Dusty, next time we will have to get you hooked up with a partner. I'm thinking a Chickamauga frostbite tournament for mid December. Thoughts?

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Sounds good to me. I am comming home for thanksgiving ( be home wednsday before thanksgiving until sunday) if anyone wants to fish. Hopefully by december I will have a boat. Rattletrapper and I are trying to buy bigfish's boat. What were most the fish caught on today?

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

I'll give you our report and others will post theirs later as well as some pictures.

We only caught 4 Bass, 3 being keepers. 1 on a DLW watermelon colored jig with matching Zoom chunk, 1 on a shad colored shad rap and the other 2 on a DLW chatterbait in white with black strands and white twin tailed trailer.

BBass caught his personal best Striper on a shad rap, he had one to get off that was alot bigger.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

It was a tough day on the water for Sandskeeter and I. The pattern we chose didn't pay off. We decided to fish docks with blades, jigs, crankbaits, and craws. A few short fish but no keepers. After the front blew through, we fished wind driven banks with crankbaits, blades, and lipless cranks. By then the bite became nonexistant. Disappointing day to say the least. Days like this really make you appreciate the good ones. Had a great time eating dinner after the tourny at Fibbers with Flip, BBass, JDEES, tritonjon-e, and Sandskeeter. Those of you who've not fished with us don't know what a great bunch of guys and gals that post and contribute to this board. You need to find a way to come out and fish with us. Good to see Biofisher attending this one. Sorry I missed you Tarheel. Next time brother. I did however manage to catch my biggest striped bass ever, on a jig next to a cement retaining wall.. Too bad it wasn't a green bass. We estimated it at 15 lbs.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

I would like to say how much I enjoyed my first CFF tournament. Tritonjon-e and myself stayed in Little River all day. We started on a main river ledge and got our first two keepers on a green pumpkin trickworm on a shaky head. We moved to a point and landed our two biggest fish on a Sammy and a Chug bug. Then we picked up our last fish on the Chug bug. We landed five fish for the day with all being keepers.

It was really nice meeting some of the CFF members. I hope all had a safe trip home.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

No doubt, a great bunch of fellas. Look at the shoulders on the last fish pictured, nice fish.

I remember looking at that beautiful sun coming up this morning, I made a comment to BBass about how big, red and cool it looked. I didnt know he had took such a great picture of it til we were on our way home, thanks BBass.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Beautiful striped bass there Jerry. We caugh a lot of dinks and striped bass too. That front really did a number on our numbers. We fished a slough with lipless and lipped crankbaits that has produced well for the last 3 weeks. Also fished some points of small islands with deeper channels between them that had been producing some good keepers. We ran upriver to a hump that always has been good for some keepers. NothingemoBang . My partner had to get back early and since he was driving I had to miss a great buffet at Fibber's. If anyone is ever fishing Weiss and looking for a great place to eat, I would highly suggest there. Pointer78 took me there at this year's BFL and it was delicious.emoHungry

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Some good looking fish there guys, congrats to everyone and sounds like everyone had a good time. Thats frostbite tourny sounds good to me.

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

Boy that last fish does have some shoulders on it for sure , nice fish Tom & Doug. Good looking fish everyone. Looks like Roy & Charles (Red) could have used just one or two more. You guys are luckey to come away from down there against those two with your money. Thats two wise old birds, who just a week or two ago had about twenty somthing Lbs. in their club clasic. Way to go Bio-Fisher & partner. That was a nice looking sack-o-fish ya'll had. Giad to hear no one hit anything. We'll catch ya next trip.emoThumbsup

RE: CFF Weiss Lake Results

First of all, thanks to Flip1up and BBass for running the show. I enjoyed being apart of it and seeing everyone. Second, thanks Cutthroat for inviting me to fish with you and believing in me. And third, thanks to the CFF and all it does.

Cutthroat and I ran up toward Riverside that morning in hopes of big topwater fish. We scored with one small keeper on a white cutthroat buzzbait and lost one other on a chartruse buzzer. For the next few hours we stayed shallow slinging the buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and crankbaits and ocassionally flipping a tube or jig. All we could come up with was a few short fish. So, we started running back down river hitting places we had caught them in the past with no success. Extremely tough day for us. We could just never figure anything out. Most of the bait that we saw was out in the very middle of the coves and pockets. We saw NO chasing activity up shallow or anywhere for that matter. We even tried a few offshore humps and ledges, or just fishing right off from those shallow flats and still could not get on a pattern. It was just not our day, but that's alright. We still had fun!

Congrats to Biofisher and Bo Batey for the win on a tough day!
