changing the impeller in a yamaha 90 horse

ok so hypothetically speaking, if i knew a guy who knew a guy who had a 07 yamaha 90 horse 2 smoke with a bad water pump due to someone cranking it out of water, would you guys have any tips on changing the impeller? i, i mean he, has done plenty of mercs and evinrudes, but never a yammy, any tricks before i drop the foot? like puttin it in reverse first or jiggling the throttle 3 times or anything like that that will save him tons of trouble? oh this is not a warranty issue more a 4 year old kid issue so i dont want to bother with the dealer.

I figure you do the yammies just like the other models, go slow and don't beat on the motor with a big hammer or anything, should be a piece of cake. If you buy the impeller from a yammie dealer, ask them if there are any tricks.

Those Yammies change out almost like a merc. Just got through with a 115 I think it was and it was a piece of cake.
