Going LM Bass fishing tomorrow in ole Lake Chickamauga. Haven't decided whether I should go up the HIwasse or stay closer to the Dam (Wolftever area). Hope this cold front hasn't turned off the fishin. HAs anyone been fishing this week since the cold front? Kind of curious to whether or not anyone has had any luck..Thanks

omega, if I were you I would fish the main lake before noon. The generators will be off after noon and the fishing on the main lake drops don't tend to shut off when the water is down and cold. Late in the day I would expect that the bass will be chasing shad on the shores of the sloughs in Harrison Bay State park and in the middle part of Wolftever creek. Find the shad in the creek and then fish the drops and stumpy flats nearby and the fish should be there. I don't know what has been happening on the Hiwassee.

Thanks Polo..last weekend I fished Lake Allatoona (North of Atlanta. GA), and the fish were very scattered and mainly on main lake points. A few fish were hitting spiiner baits and cranks early. I'm still getting used to TN lakes since I'm a Ga boy, so I'm gonna chance it at Wolfever. There's good 20' dropoffs and and a few points I have already picked out on the map that I'm hitting first. Probably end up draggin worms after the day's over, but we'll see. I'll let you know how it went. Thanks again.

We must have posted at the same time weird. anyway, ok that makes sense. I see a lot of people starting out at Sequoyah, but I dunno. This whole current thing is throwing me off since I mainly fish in GA. Any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking about putting in at Chesterfrost Park, and I don't feel like going up river a ways since my BULLET gets about 5mpg :)

Absolutely horrible day!

Ok, where do I begin. To start off, we put in at Harrison Bay and thought we would hit the rip-rap at Wolftever to start the day. The fog was so dense that you couldn't see 50ft in front you. On my way there (trying to listen for the traffic to find the bridge, about 25mph), all of the sudden I cam across a sand bar. no time to react, I just put her in reverse and hoped for the best. Well, we hit bottom. I'm talking the whole boat. Couldn't even get the trim to respond. I quickly jumped in the water (w/o thinking) and picked the boat up with my buddy working the trolling motor. Well we managed to get it loose after about 5 minutes. I was drenched to my knees (and it was 35 degrees out). Needless to say I was a one cold puppy. Had to strip down to get the wet clothes off. went back to the ramp to check for damages, but none found thank god. not one scratch on the prop. amazing!

ok, we finally made it back to fishing. headed up to Sequoyah to fish drop offs and all of the sudden, my trolling motor goes to sh#@t. I think it must be a bad battery, but I haven't diagnosed it yet. Fishing done.. time to go home.

That's not all. on the way back to the ramp (running about 75mph), my buddy says you're not going to believe this. I said WHAT!!!! I looked back and my back seat was gone! We must have hit a big wave and there it went.

I ended up catching 1 small spot the whole morning, and I earned every bit of it too.. :)

Anywho, that's how my day went. Hope everyone else had a better one.

Sorry to hear that you had such a tough day. I hate it when I plan a leisurely fishing trip and it ends up being everything but. Did you figure out where you ran aground? Was it on one of the humps out front of Hwy 58? CCSM and I had talked about how tough a day it might be for fishing but when I got up the fog was burning off. When it rains, it pours.

Yeah, it was the hump right in front of HW58 closest to Harrison Bay side of the bridge. If you look close enough, you'll probably see a big ditch in the middle of it now.. Yup, that was me. :) Don't know how I ended up over there, but much stranger things have happened. I've been driving boats for 12 years, and I would never think that could happen to me. That fog is killer.. Be careful everyone.

If you have a GPS you can mark the channel and run all out as long as there isn't another boat in your way. I do it so watch out for me in the next few weeks.

I have a Garmin Legend GPS, but just have the US Street Maps loaded on it. Doesn't show lake depths. That's the last time I try to beat the fog. Gonna wait until it clears up in the future.

btw, anyone know where I could get another seat to match my original seats? I'm thinking I'm probably out of luck on that deal, but I'm gonna keep looking. I might just buy all new seats anyway. Here's what they look like.

Just plug in way points where you know there is deep water in the daylight and set up a route from waypoint to waypoint that you know are safe and just run it without the "pucker" as someone else called it. It even would have worked for ChooChooSnakeMan if he had punched a waypoint or two on his way out from grasshopper creek yesterday.

IS THAT A BULLET? OMEGA IF IT IS ,YOU COULD PROBABLY ORDER ONE IN THE RIGHT COLOR FROM BULLET.....I HAVEN`T HAD TO REPLACE ONE OF MINE YET BUT I KNOW THE FANCY BUCKETS ARE ABOUT 500$ A PIECE.....AIN`T NONE OF `EM CHEAP....I JUST GOT A LOWRANCE 332C AND AND THE INSTRUCTION BOOK SAY THAT THE" WAAS" SYSTEM ISN`T COMPLETE YET AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES ALL GPS`S GET THE ACCURACY FROM 100FT DOWN TO 30FT... MINE HAS AN ALARM YOU CAN SET TO TELL YOU IF WAAS IS WORKING....IT GOES OFF SO MUCH TELLING ME IT ISN`T GETTING THE WAAS SIGNAL THAT I FINALLY TURNED OFF THE ALARM...ALSO THE SLOWER YOU GO THE LESS ACCURATE GPS IS...A COUPLE OF TIMES AT THE LAUCH RAMP IT SHOWED THE BOAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ABOUT 50 FT AWAY....I`D BE REAL CAREFUL ABOUT RUNNING BLIND IN FOG...30FT.. MUCH LESS A 100FT CAN BE DISASTEROUS

I do agree, you do need to use some reason. I don't run at 70mph, my boat won't go that and I tend to have too much "pucker" to run very fast in the fog. I didn't mean to expect someone to be careless but it does help to have a pair of eyes that can see through the fog.

I'm afraid to ask what BULLET charges for seats. That's why I'm trying to find maybe a used one or find someone who is selling theirs. I found some nice seats off of Ebay for $200/set. That's not bad.

Polo, I wasn't going 70mph through the fog..that's idiotic. I was going about 25mph, and I've done it lots of times before. I know of a guy who went WOT once through fog and lost his LU to a stump. My flasher went out that morning, so that was one of the main reasons for the event. Was just eager to fish that's all. Lessens learned though. It won't happen again I can promise you that.

Omega ...those are like mine.... just a basic seat...they might even have that color in stock.....i would guess about a 100$ maybe less....you could probably checkout bulletboats.com and probably find out in their forum room or just ask them a question...haven`t been on it in a while but it was pretty good site and informative chat room thing...the main guys at bullet on on it alot..good set-up advice and what not....might want to check it out fairly reasonable priced stuff...

omega checkout www.bulletboats.com..click on OWNERS tab and might be able to dig thru forum and find price or post a request for info...somebody might have one ...some people changed out their seats and put them fancy buckets in...might get lucky or just e-mail `em...i just went there for first time in a while .... good site...lotta info on bullets

omega,
I didn't mean to imply that you were going 70 in the fog, however SNUFFY seemed to imply that I thought that was a good idea. Sorry for the confusion.
