My youngest son, Eric & I headed upriver to see if we could get on some bass bustin shad in the shallows. Started out in a bay full of bait about 1:30. Only got 2 on rat-l-trap. Tried a couple of other flats with no luck. Headed back to the flat where we caught our fish & moved out from it till we found the only deeper water near the bay. Eric caught 2 slicks along some chunk rock & then had a mule load on. He fought the fish like a pro & then we saw a gilimpse of white. He was a little discouraged cause he thought he had hooked a big drum. About the time he got that out of his mouth, the line started up & kept coming as a gorgeous lunker came completely clear of the water! We both about came unglued. He worked the fish expertly & I was shaking like a leaf when I finally lipped her. At 8-3 on our Rapala Scale, he had the biggest bass of his life. Great time & great memories!

Man-o-Man, That lady would go nearly 10 in the springtime!! To catch an 8+ largemouth from these waters puts you in Elite Company. Congratulations! emoThumbsup emoThumbsup emoWorthy

You are gonna have to stay out of my fishing hole up there!!!! Do I have to put signs up and post it? emoPoke Seriously man you guys have the best luck. Way to go on a beautiful fish! emoThumbsup

Yes, Eric caught her on a char. trap. about 4-5' deep. She was thick across the back but a little lean in the belly. The fish was 24.5" long but I didn't get her girth. We didn't have a tape & wanted to get her back in the water. I was so excited for Eric I forgot about getting a piece of line & cutting it for her girth. Oh well, maybe with the length & the pictures we took the taxidermist can get us a replica. Maybe next spring he can catch her again at her full weight:)

Actually, FF, we decided to head further up from our normal haunts around Skull & caught this gal up near the Hwy. 60 bridge.

Congrats on that toad TR20bh! I take it you got your motor all squared away (?). Good to see your post, but stay out of my neck of the woods. Ha! Just joshin ... I haven't been out in that area in weeks. Congrats again!!

Whew! You had me worried there buddy. I called my fishing partner and told him to go online and take a look at the fish. He fussed for 30 minutes about being in the same spot and missing it! I'm glad to see there are still some hogs out there. Hopefully I'll see you guys at the lake soon. Congrats to your son again. That is one heck of a fish!

Great job Hayes boys! We still need to get together sometime. I don't need to catch a big one like that. But that wouldn't be too bad.

Hey, Hold on there now. Sooo , You moved from FF's spot into MY spot. - - - Well I'm sure glad you put my fish back into my honey-hole. J/KemoLaugh

That is a nice bass and you sure know how to hold it for the camera lens.emoThumbsup
