Civil War Show

Who's going to the Civil War show this weekend in Dalton? I have been the last several years and enjoy it a lot. Lots of displays some good, some ok. I'm a big history buff, especially that which occured here in our backyard.
I was lucky enough to have a highschool history teacher who made civil war history exciting for 15 year olds..

I have a Civil War era saber and would like to get some information on it. Would there be anyone there that could help?

Can you tell me anything about this old knife ? I have let a couple people see it that know some about Civil War items. Both say its a D-Guard Bowie made from an old horseshoe file. And both said its style and what its made of puts it in the Civil War era as a possible Confedirate piece....I placed a Quarter in the pic to show size.

Without being able to see it in person there is nothing anyone could tell about it. The shape alone tells nothing. There were more reproductions of this knife made after the Civil War than was used during the war.

It looks like a D-guard to me too.... and im 99.99% sure its made from a file

Yes that would be the best way to have someone look at it. Later I'll pm you the names of a couple of people who you should show it too long your there. Not sure what day I'll get to go but maybe we can meet up if we there at the same time.

Yes I'm sure there will be someone there. I've met several people there in the last few years that would qualify as experts in their fields.
I am not an expert on anything that would qualify me to put a value on something, except cutting grass.
I met a person there two years ago that help dispose of my uncle's collection after his passing.
it's only $8 to get in and it's a lot bigger than the piss-ant gun shows they have here. emoCool
