What are the concealed carry laws on tva property?

I have a Virginia concealed carry permit, the states respiratory agreement accepts my permit in Tennessee but Im not sure if it holds any weight on tva property.

The printed laws are so vague on what is and what is not legal. From reading everything seems to be worded to no firearms on developed property. Everything about the tva area area could be considered developed. There are state laws and federal laws and even coast guard laws, army corp of engineer laws and twra rlaws and city laws. I have no idea how to understand pages of conflicting and vague rules.

For example: if I go to the Chickamauga dam, do I have to leave my Glock in the truck?
Is it even legal to have it in my truck in the parking lot?
Is it legal to have a gun on my boat?

I dont want to break any laws. The old saying "its better to be judged by 12, than to be carried by 6" may not be an acceptable defense in federal court.

To me, the key to developed versus undeveloped lands is the existence or lack of amenities. If there are any amenities, firearms are not permitted.

I bet you have seen this but just in case you have not:

https://www.tva.com/Environment/Env...-Management/Rules-for-Use-of-TVA-Public-Lands

I did read that.
Is a boat ramp, a dock, a sidewalk or a fishing platform considered an amenity?
I fish in a tva lake here, I just dont get out of the jeep or boat on tva property. I also dont use a ramp on tva property. Yalls dam is a little more high profile than the dam here.

Thank you for your reply

I've seen the signs whenever I drive onto TVA parks (the chick dam)- No firearms or alchohol permitted. Its specific. If its not posted, don't worry about it. A firearm in your boat may be a different story as it involves the US Coastguard rules and regs on US waterways. Just a tip, if you are ever uncertain and decide to leave a gun in your truck, take the mag with you. Also, if you are a CCW permit holder, it says a lot about your character as a role model citizen. Law enforcement takes this in to consideration. Its about sensibility- if you drive onto a posted property like TVA, does this mean you have to turn around because you have a weapon in the care? Technically but, if you unload your gun , separate the ammo and store it in your trunk etc., Thats sensible. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. And IMO, I see no reason why a person should not be allowed to keep a weapon in the boat. There are crazy's on the water too. Plus, what if you live on a houseboat? Of course you can own a gun... Also, I've seen in some tournament rules, "No guns allowed in the boat during tournament hours". Make sense of that! I guess the rage that I've seen occur between anglers could lead to brandishing a weapon and a possible homicide for hole sitting or stealing your hole, lol. Could happen. IMO, whenever you are uncertain, be sensible.

Reciprocal Agreement. TWRA had a booth at the boat show in Chattanooga. I asked if I could carry my concealed weapon while fishing in my boat in the Chick. The answer was yes!

Blue, do you have residency in TN? If so, your permit in VA is null and void. You must have a TN Handgun Permit if you are a Tennessee Resident to carry a handgun. In terms of TVA property, you can carry a handgun on your boat (Castle Doctrine) If firearms are not allowed on property it should be noted and posted visibly.

I have had a CCW Permit in Tennessee for 12 years and I carry my gun all the time. I fish Corps lakes and TVA lakes and have sat and spoke with TWRA wardens on both lakes while they are checking my boat for all safety equipment and fishing license's and many times I have my gun in open sight on my hip and I have never once ever been ask for my CCW permit or been asked about being armed. Figure they allow hunting on both Corps property and TVA land which both allow guns to do that...............JMHO

I don’t have a Tennessee residence but our states are supposed to honor each others permits.

Blue, good deal. Reason I ask, I am a handgun carry instructor and a lot of people think they can get a viriginia permit and it be recognized by TN. Not too sure why, but it happens!
