I've been fishing nights during the Summer for many years using the same big lures with fair success. Every once in a while I'll run across a post on other websites that only mention using crankbaits at night but don't go into great detail. I've never used one after the sun goes down. Anyone use a crankbait as their main or secondary lure while working the night shift?

I have had been doing very good with a crankbait at night around boat dock's.In the past I have only fished for Walley's at night with crankbait's.This summer is the first time I have fished for bass at night.I was told that crankbait's were not that good at night for bass but they do work great, but keep the retreve very slow and steady. You'll hook up big time.

I have done well on clear water lakes with crankbaits at night, mainly on lakes up in the North east where clear water lakes are the norm. In stainded water I have not had much success. The few night trips I have made on the Chick this summer I have only caught a few on crankbaits right before its pitch dark. I fish alot of crankbaits, its my go to lure. I have done much better with slower presentations at night. Big worms, jigs, SB's etc. Thats just me though. Hope this helps.
