I would be up for this, but 3/22 is the date of the Family Traditions Nickajack tournament... should be a great day for CFF members!

Terry will we be required to release the fish after weigh-in? Rules on the calendar don't say.

No Cheez you won't be required to release them. As a matter of fact I would think that almost everyone would like to keep them. The ones that don't can contribute their catch to the picnic. Someone brought up a very good point about possession limits and I intend to discuss this issue with Matt Majors prior to the event to make sure we don't have a bucket with 70 crappie in it and someone get cited.

Alright folks! If you want to do this one let's get signed up so we know how many are coming. This should be a blast with lots of nice, eating fish caught and a chance to meet lots of the folks from the forum!

Terry, my .02 says that requiring folks to bring the fish live will limit who can participate. Think about bank-fisherman, and folks that dont have livewells. My livewells suck, so Idont know if I could keep many fish alive for long either. Just a thought since most will keep them, or donate them for the picninc. </p>

I am open for input on the "live" crappie issue. If someone has a better idea then drop me a PM and we'll see about what can be done. My concern, and it is not for the regular folks here, is that someone that has money on the brain might fish for a couple of days prior to the event, keep the biggest fish, and then weigh them in to clean the pot out. It has happened in other crappie tournaments. I know of at least 2 that I have heard of. Again, with the regular folks that are on the forum, I know that would never be an issue. My biggest concern is that someone that no one knows could show up and try to skirt the rules. Anyway, like I said, I am open to input to make this a above board, low key, fun event for everyone. Just holler at me!

Since you asked I will weigh in on it. I think you should keep it as you started it. Nothing wrong with bringing live fish to the weigh in even if we are going to keep them.If someone is going to cheat there is not much you can do to stop them but there is no sense making it easy for them. JMHO

For me, it makes no diference if it is live or on ice.

I agree with SpurHunter, live will limit some folks. It would limit me, if I was fishing in MY boat!! My livewell is nothing more than an unisulated aluminum box filled with beany weenies, and sardines!!

I will be fishing with a pretty famous BASS member!! My long time duck/turkey hunting buddy Larry Nixon is making the trip from Bee Branch Arkansas to Villanow Georgia for a turkey hunt.

We plan on scouting/listening for turkeys for a few days before the season, and fish this Crappiefest!

Larry is bringing his boat, I figure it has a livewell!

We plan on fishing this tournament as a prelim to killing all of the turkeys in the state of Georgia!!!

Look forward to meeting everyone!emoToast

Jack, are you serious about "THE" Larry Nixon fishing with you in the Crappiefest? If so, please look at my PM and let me know what you think. It would be great to have one of the really great ones of the fishing world to be with us all, that's for sure.

This one is coming up quickly! If you want to enter please make sure you sign up on the calendar so we can get an idea of how many to expect.
