Saturday I went out on Priest with Mr. Justin White from Murfreesboro. Before the trip he explain to me that he just want to get out on the lake and catch some fish. Usually he would strictly bass fish but he did not have the patience in the cold weather. I hooked on some grubs and put him on tens of white bass, a bunch of spots and one largemouth. All were caught up lake in a 7-9 feet fished slow.

White bass can be lots of fun. Were you fishing in current for the whites or in sloughs? How did you know where they were located? Lots of times I catch them on ends of points near deep flowing water at least in the late fall that's where I find them. I haven't targeted them in the winter much but usually when you catch one there are tons of others. Was there any size to them? Were they under a big ball of shad? I think that most of the fish that I catch are following big balls of bait this time of year.

Dear Bryan

Glad to hear that Priest is still productive. I lived for 5 years in Franklin and fished Percy Priest many times for bass, mostly in Stewart's Creek, Spring Creek, E. Fork, and W. Fork areas. Almost always had success.

Yes, I was fishing in current. there is a spring in the back of a creek that was pushing 56-57 water, while the main lake was 49. It was really muddy but that did not matter. Not much size but using our crappie rods made it fun. Justin caught a 1 1/2 largemouth and he thought it was a five pounder! It was so funny! The spring was loaded with shad but you could not see them to well with the water being so muddy. There are a few spots I know I can go and catch them but I found those spots by just bumping into them.
