Deer Corn For Sale - What's Up With That?

It may be for folks like me, who enjoy seeing wildlife but I do not hunt. I'm not opposed to hunting but since I do not like venison I see no reason to kill a deer. I put out corn and mineral blocks all year for the deer around my place. i KNOW it's not illegal to use it in this manner.

Night before last it was Deer tenderloin, fresh fried okra and cheezy macaroni. Last night it was deer cube steak cut up into bite sized bits and stir fried, then mixed into stir fried broccoli in my cast-iron Lodge wok. Seasoned just right. "No leftovers". No corn was harmed in either meal.

Also, I thought it was mildly amusing that on page 27 of the 2010 Hunting and Trapping Guide there is a classified ad for deer feeders, it just happens to be in the Deer Hunting section.  emoLaugh

Thanks for this "tip." I didn't know this.

I am asking TWRA for an official response.

That will make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!.

OK, let my conspiracy theory mind work here...........................................................I see deer corn at Academy, I pick up a 2010 Hunting Guide and flip to the Deer Section and there on page 27 is a 1/2 page Deer Feeder ad. I can see where this might be slightly confusing to the average hunter.

Richard, I am extremely interested in what TWRA has to say about the ad. (Especially since I was chastised on Tndeer.com for suggesting TWRA wasn't too serious about enforcing baiting. )

Let's try to break this down a little further for the sake of the discussion. First thing we apparently need to get straight is in TN and many other states it is perfectly legal to feed wildlife. Let me say that again. Legal to feed. If TN wildlife biologists were worried about the spread of disease they and other state's biologists would have extensive studies that would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the practice of feeding wildlife needed to be outlawed to protect the wildlife. If you buy that fact then it's pretty easy to understand that many states not only have no analysis that shows a negative impact form feeding and they also do not have have any data or analysis that tells them hunting over the feed is detrimental. So what scientific study has TN done that shows anything any different that what the other states have done? Take the ethics out of the equation and ask yourself what biological basis TN biologists use for allowing feeding of minerals and hunting over minerals. Why is it ok to concentrate animals and hunt them over minerals and it is not ok to conentrate animals over feed if concentrating animals is a big concern to biologists? From a biological standopoint, what makes this argument sound? Let me say it another way guys. TN biologists say it is ok to feed minerals and grain to wildlife then they turn around and say that it is also something that they feel should be discouraged for grain only but minerals are safe, and oh by the way, it is good to hunt over minerals too. The TN biologists also say that irrespective of what other biologists in other states think, TN biologists are so good at what they do that they think that hunting over feed should be punishable in a court of law. This discussion is not about who sells corn and feeders to who or if it should be made legal or illegal, it's about a bunch of biologists that do what they want to do and say what they want to say with little or no research, data or sound scientific principles to back up anything to do with feeding, disease control, revenue generation or utilzation of other state's biological research. We're being feed a bunch of crap by our biologist just because we let them feed us crap and this crap is as cheap as any home grown corn you can get at any big box store in the south. On top of that look what it costs to hunt legally in TN.
