I would like to say congrats to rogie on a great year so far. I witnessed rogie and michael myself in our tourney at the chick this year draining air and reviving fish that were released. They were the only ones doing it and I thought it was a standup thing to witness. Thanks

GREAT POST . I WENT FISHING UP AT WATTS BAR SAT, NIGHT AND THEY WERE HAVING A DOG FIGHT.WHEN WE WERE LOADING THE BOAT A MAN FROM THE DOG FIGHT CAME WALKING DOWN WITH 3 BASS IN HIS HAND HE THREW THEM IN THE WATER AND WALKED OFF . I WAS A FEW MINUTES GETTING EVERYTHING TOGETHER JUMPED OFF THE BOAT TO PULLUP
AND LOOKED OVER AND ALL THREE FISHING WERE LAYING THERE FLOATING WHAT A WASTE. emoBang emoBang emoBang

Most people have never even thought about going this far in depth just to save a fish. I didnt know most of the information that you guys have provided and find it pretty interesting. Glad you guys brought it up and went this far in depth, hopefully it will make a difference.

Guys, you have to be careful with adding the salt. Too much will cause the fish to dehydrate and also the more salt in the water the less oxygen the water can hold.

I AHVE JUST UPGRADED MY LIVEWELL WITH 800GPH AREATOR PUMPS AND NEW SPRAYBAR AND FLOW-RITE NOZZLES.ITS LIKE NIAGRA FALLS IN MY LIVEWELL NOW.I WILL DO MY PART TO KEEP MY FISH ALIVE AND WELL.I ALSO HAVE AN OXYGEN INFUSION SYSTEM.THANKS ROGIE FOR ALL THE USEFULL INFORMATION.ROGIE GAVE ME A NEEDLE A FEW YEARS BACK AND I STILL HAVE IT AND USE IT WHEN NOBODYS AROUND TO ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE FISH.MOST PEOPLE JUST SLAP THE FISH BACK IN THE WATER NOT EVEN LOOKING TO SEE IF THE NEED ASSISTANCE.I LEARNED TO CARE FOR MY CATCH AND THE SPEICES AS A WHOLE INSTEAD OF JUST MY FISH.I LOVE TO FISH AND ENJOY THE SPECIES AND THE CHALLENGE IT POSES.ABSOLUTLY.
TIGHT LINES!

Great info from all of you. Thanks Rogie good article. I just had the new "Keepemcool System" added to my boat. They assured me it would drop the temp in my livewells at least 5 degrees. I had temp sensors placed in each livewell and a monitor on the dash to track livewell temp. I will let you all know in the heat of the summer if all my efforts were worth it. emoScratch

Is that the one with the probe that sticks into the livewell? In looking at those I had a concern that ifthe probewas placed at a high level in the water it might cause fish injuries in rough water. Especially if you had 5 big fish in the well.

The probe sits about half way down in the tank. There is no perfect system. I was always concerned about a bouncing gallon of ice injuring fish as well. emoBang

I for one, agree there is no perfect system. I like the temp probes so the water temp is readily available. From what I have read, I like the concept and I hope it works well for you.

I've never heard this, I will have to keep it in mind during future tournaments.. THANKS for the info.

I have been looking at a new water cooling system from a (tennessee)company called "KOOLWELL" it cycles the water through an external source. It is a simple system that has some potential.

great info and will use it to the fishes safety, thats the whole reason i'm out there

last year i bought a oxygenator , a portable one with clamps, and when it gets the heat of summer i use it with the oxygenator additive(salt free).i still change the water out a couple of times during the day and also add a frozen 2liter bottle of water to keep temps. down.

CHATTANOOGA FISH N FUN IS AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OF THE COOL WELL. THOSE GUYS WERE AT THEIR LAST BOAT SHOW. I THINK IT'S A PRETTY COOL DEAL WITH THE AUTO TEMP GAGE AND ALL.

The bst part is that there are no probes sticking into the livewell to gig the fish and the thermostat keeps the water form constantly cycling and putting the fish into shock. I like what I have seen so far from this company and it is made in Tennessee.
