I have an alum boat. For the past two years I have hadtwo Eagle 480's mounted on the front and back end of the boat. For the past several weeks after fishing (and the DF working fine) I turn the DF's off put the batteries on charge (2 bank Dual Pro) but when I check on the boat the next day the DFmounted on the frontis tunred on again. What do you think is causing the DF to turn itself on? I unlug it and it goes off. The next fishing trip I plug it back it and it operates just fine. Any ideas?? Thanks, KF

Ah ha! I've discovered where the evil boat genie went after he left permanent residence at my house and then at Spur's! (He still visits, though) emoBigsmile

My Lowrance on the bow wigs out on me all the time. Sometimes turns itself on, sometimes turns off, and sometimes flashes like I am repeatedly hitting the "light" button. Oh well, it still tells me how deep I am and shows me structure, so Im gonna hold on to er'......

Mine does the same thing. Very irritating at night with it flashing like a strobe light. I have to unplug it or it will come back on after being turned off.

yea mine is the EXACT same way. i dont even use the power button anymore. just pull out the power supply and be on my way. kind of a pain

My front one started doing that after it got wet - will turn itself on for a few days until it dries out. Fortunately, them main power switch still cuts it off. It is a built in flush with the front panel.

My Eagle 500C was doing the same thing. Then it quit doing this for a few months and just last week, it started turning itself back on. Turn it off and it will turn itself back on before I can leave. I just unplug it as well. Maybe it just does this during Dogdays! emoScratch emoUpsmile emoCrazy emoGeezer

BBass - 8/4/2008 6:38 PM Mine wont turn on by itself but everytime I start he motor, it goes off.

Yep, mine dies about 50% of the time I start the big motor AND it turns itself on in the garage for no reason. Gotta love it.

all of your guys units need upgrades you can go too lowrance.com and download these if you have card readers on them like for the map chips and also you can get interface cables too do this if not. these are free downloads from lowrance, if it doesnt work which on some cases it hasnt like with the lms 332c of the past, it is in the circuit board and has arched, so the unit needs too go to tulsa,ok GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually these types of problems are caused by shorts on the circuit boards or cracks somewhere on the circuit board.
To check for the shorts on the board look for moisture traces on the board.
The cracks are usually from vibration and could either be somewhere in the foil traces or on the substrate board itself.
If you're not familiar with electronic circuitry STAY OUT OF THERE. It will cost you more than just sending it back to the repair shop to get the original problem repaired!

BBass, put an analog volt meter in the positive lead right at the depth finder. Watch the volt meter at the time you start the motor. You may be getting a low voltage swing just as you hit the starter and that disrupts the regulated voltage on the circuit board telling the circuit to turn off. Don't use a cheap digital VOM because it's response time is too slow to give you detail of the voltage swing. It's probably only low voltage for miliseconds.
Cause COULD be corroded connections or too small wire/partially broken wire going to the depth finder??
All this is just something to look for. It could be in the circuitry of the unit but I bet it's a voltage thing.

I had some of the same problems with my LMS240 on the console. It would turn itself on while sitting in the yard. Then it got where it would not come on at all. I was not getting 12 volts to the unit. I changed the fuse and cleaned the ends of the fuse holder even though everything seemed good. Everything has worked since and the unit hasn't cut itself on again. You might try this it worked for me.

OK, you must not know Billy. He cant walk and chew gum at the same time without dragging his chin on the ground emoTongue

And you guys wonder why I am always recommending Humminbird stuff? I have had tons of problems with Lowrance in the past and just got tired of it.

Are you guys powering from your accsessory, under your console? My past 2 boats I had some of the same issue's with a 500c lowrance. I just put a new lowrance on my boat and hooked it straight to the battery with an inline fuse. It was a pain running it the whole way to the console but I have had alot of trouble hooking to accsessory, corrosion, loose wires. Just a thought

Jeez Bob.....must be George Bush and the gas prices. emoConfused But seriously emoGoofy my Lowrance on the front acts squirrely a lot....like when I'm in 18 ft. it'll say 180 ft. I know that's not a bit of help, I just wanted to whine. emoBooHoo

my x75 turns on partially by its self .. get thin black line, I have to unplug it .. and after you use for a couple hours the keys wont work and the alarms randomly sound, unplug and plug in good for another couple hours with out issues, my garmin and humminbird never had such issues.. Im gonna stick with those when this one dies.
