Don't get me wrong... I am a Walmart fan. They generally provide great products at bargain prices.

However, I have purchased my LAST trolling motor battery from Walmart. The last three... count 'em... three trolling motor batteries I've bought at Walmart have all been returned prior to their appropriate expiration date. The most recent one, a 3-year battery, made it one season. First time out this year, the fully-charged battery went DOA in three hours.

To their credit, the guys at the Walmart Service Center are cooperative, test the batteries, and don't hesitate to say, "Yep, it's bad. We'll have to give you credit on it."

But I've had it with having to wondering how long the next one will last.

Who's got a surefire suggestion on battery brand and local retailer that I can depend on.

Sears ! They have outstanding marine batteries with great warranties !! I've had nothing but problems out of my trolling batteries from Walmart of the last year. Louie B told me about Sears, and they have been outstanding !

What kind of time have you got out of them?

I run them all day, and thats with all my electronics and livewell going. Only had these batteries about 3 months now, but I also keep my boat outside so thats even more stress on them through the winter. Ive been very impressed.

The Diehard Platinum AGM's have real good power/reserve ratings and have received great reviews on here and elsewhere. I will use them, if my Dual Pro's ever crap out.

i just replaced both of mine last week and the ones i took out were bought at walmart two years ago.i decided not to go back with them again.i got interstate blims this time.a friend told me he has had good luck with them.50.49 each(group24.27 or 29.

Sears Diehards! I use to work there and sold them for yrs. Had very few problems w/them. emoThumbsup

Do you know wich manufacturer makes the walmart batteries?

I put some Wally batteris in my Ford Expedition in May of 05. I had to get a new one last monht, it was late, about 6:30 figured I would just give those commies more money and go there. I am glad I did, I still had 3+ years of warranty of it, and saved me almost $40 on the new one! Hard to beat that guys.

I got optimas in my boat and my work van they are blims but have not had any problems I can get them for 80.00 each

I just replaced ac delco's after nearly four years and they were still good just got weak after one trip. I prefer a quality long lasting battery as opposed to great return service or convienent locations to return them. I like fishing not returning therefore I use AC Delco Voyagers Ken Smith Auto Parts.

I bought my second pair of group 27 AC Delco Voyagers two yrs. a go after the first pair finally died. My boat is a 95 model so you do the math. The only TM battery I'll ever own.

i dont understand. i put in a search for maxx batteries (walmart) and post after post talked about how good they are .did they (walmart) all the sudden go down hill.this makes it harder to chose as i need to replace all my batteries.

I love my Wallies, I won't fish with anything else. When a battery begins to not work right I am done. It may be the Friday before a tournament or the Saturday of, I can replace batteries anywhere in the country 24/7/365.

I have had good service, nuff said........

Walmart batteries are made by Johnson Controls. I have Cabelas AGM's and they are awesome. As strong after 9 hrs of fishing as they were at the start. Had them a year now. Only downside is the terminals are different than other marine batts but they worked. I also really like the Die Hard platinum AGM's but they are over $200 each.

Walmart changes suppliers all the time. But I have never known them to be Johnson Controls. I have Duralast from Autozone in both my boats and several vehicles. Never a problem out of them. As far as I'm concerned they go beyond the call of duty. I even have one that hasn't been i a vehicle for 5 years that will still crank a big block Ford if called upon.

Most batteries are made by Johnson Controls, exide, or Penn (deka) I think. Duralast batteries I believe are also made by Johnson controls. Could be Johnson Electric or something but same owner. Also owns humminbird (johnson outdoors).

There is a difference between fishing tournaments and just fishing. Missing a 200.00 dollar tournament because you can not get a battery replaced is not an option, you will be out more than $200.00.If you are just fishing, any good battery will do.
