I will do 3 reports in one this time. Dr Phil and I started off our week on Tuesday with a 2 hour trip that was one of our better trips together. Actually, it was our best trip together for Rockfish. We hooked up 6 Rockfish, landed 4 along with 2 big Drum and a couple of white bass. Our 4 Rockfish weighed 91 pounds. The two that pulled off nearly spooled us too. We were chasing with the big motor, but they still pulled off. Dr Phil got his PB Rockfish at 37 lbs 5 ozs. He also caught an 18 lb 7 oz Rockfish while I landed an 18 lb 8 oz Rockfish and a 16 lb 11 oz Rockfish. I also caught 2 huge pet Drum. We didn't weigh them but they were heavy. emoUpsmile Dr Phil's big fish was 40.5 inches long.

Then on Wednesday night, it looked like a CFF convention at the Riverpark with Reliable, Labman, Fishing Machine, Pete Sr and Jr and a couple more boats. I caught 2 more big Drum, and Dr Phil landed one small drum (7 lbs) and 1 blue catfish about 8 lbs and his one Rockfish of 14 lbs even. We fished for about 1.5 hours total. 6:30 til 8:00 pm.

Thursday morning found Labman and I back down at the Riverpark with great expectations. Somehow word had gotten out about the big Rockfish being below the dam. We counted 7 boats very early including the old stump bumper himself (Benny Hull) along with a couple of guys. I caught 2 white bass and hooked up a huge striper that was doing its best to spool me, but Norman quickly got on the big motor and we chased it down to the RR trestle pilings. It was still sort of dark and hard to see the fluorocarbon line in the low light and we tried our best to determine which pilings the fish would swim between. We made the wrong guess and the big fish got around the piling and broke off. It felt stronger than any that I caught all week. emoBang After that, it was dead and with the rain coming in, we both talked about having to mow our yards, so we quit fishing around 9:00 AM.

We caught our fish on swimbaits with 1/4 and 3/8 oz shadhead jigs that I pour and powder paint. (No, they aren't for sale.)

I did get out with my grandson Daniel this morning for about an hour or so. I wanted to check the pulse on the crappie. I checked a remote place that I normally don't see anyone fishing, but there was 1 boat in there fishing. The water was very low and I only caught one lone crappie and a golden shiner. Daniel and I decided to get back home as it started to cloud up and with showers in the forecast for the afternoon, we called it a day. Norman, Daniel wanted to thank you for the rod and reel. He really likes it. But I think that he is more proud of that little tackle box with his name on it better than the rod/reel. Go figure. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I thought you had moved or something, glad to read your report DK. Man those are some nice fish you all have caught. DK your pets are getting to big to call pets anymore. Time to send them on down the river. That one strip is a monster. I bet the Doc was excited to land that thing. emoWorthy emoWorthy emoWorthy

Thats a WOW report for thr Sunday Sailors! Congrats to Dk and Dr. Phil! You two might want to grease up the reels after those battles, they had to take a strain to land those kind of whoppers. That 37lb Striper is equivalent to a deer hunter harvesting a 12pt Buck in my book!emoApplause

Daniel looks to have freckles like Gabrielle...are they siblings or cousins? Either way I see that DK sparkle in his eyes...PawPaw you done good and I dont mean the fishing!

Great fun and fellowship out there this week. Great to see and chat with you and the other CFFers out there. Congrats to Dr. Phil on the 37 pounder!

Great fish guys, especially Dr Phil's 37# +. Sorry we didn't get a look at your fish DK, just couldn't see the line well enough to tell where he was going. We will do better next time. I thought Daniel might like his name on the tackle box, and hope you two get to wear out his new rod together.

Regards, Labman

What a great week at the River Park! I bet Dr. Phil was needing his own adjustment after the battle with monster striper! emoApplause emoApplause The pictures are awesome, but I love mostly the freckled face Daniel!!
BTW, your pets are getting bigger or you are getting smaller, emoPoke, or maybe a little of both! emoLaugh

Beautiful fish gentlemen. Especially the 37... Dr. Phil gets big striper award below Chick Dam this year... So far anyway.

Great talking with you guys at the ramp after an evening of fishing last Thursday. Enjoyed the conversation.

See you on the water.
