Duck hunting baylor lake

Thats would be my first guess too. Last weekend, it was a great idea for somebody! I cant figure out how in the hell they got in there and how in the hell they didnt go to jail. I lost count of mallard ducks in about a half hour of sitting watching in the middle of the day. In years past, there has been known to be hundreds of ducks roosting back in that hole. Theses guys maybe the type that would hunt a refuge also...

Last guy that went that route lost his right to buy a gun since it involved a school. Bad idea..... don't do it for your sake.

No shooting firearms in city limits

Twra says you can hunt in the city so that trumps city laws. Correct 3391?
I thought there were a couple guys that goose hunted on the river below the dam. There was alot of question about legality of the hunt, but it seems like twra said it was fine.

You are NOT allowed to discharge a firearm in the city limits I understand. So the boys goose hunting can? Maybe because they were in a boat? So if Im in a boat I cant hunt behind walmart, but I can shoot geese off the river walk next to a college/SCHOOL. I know the person with the answers is on here. And explain why there are some cases its okay and some that are not. Why are the "fine lined laws" not in plain sight! Seams like they want you to hang yourself.... But I guess it brings revenue to the state.

Was this guy hunting from a boat and keeping 100 yrd. distance between roads or perminant structures. How long ago was this 3391? Im guessing he was beside the school, and not behind walmart wich is about 6-800 yrds.

The Tennessee Attorney General has issued an opinion which says local regulations cannot override state laws.... in other words there are situations in which one can legally hunt inside city limits regardless of local laws. But remember that is only an "opinion." In other words, you might be able to use that opinion as a defense in court... but it won't necessarily prevent a cop from hauling you to jail.

In MY opinion there are many situations in which it is legal to hunt inside city limits.... but just because it is legal, it doesn't always make it right, or smart.

One hunter (or group of hunters) doing something stupid, such as goose hunting within easy view of the Riverwalk, or hunting Baylor Lake (legal or not), can do an immense amount of harm to all other hunters. Such actions can dramatically sway public opinion against us.

Please don't do it.

When I was young I remember people duck hunting beside Dayton boat dock not sure if it was legal though

Richard Simms is right. Municipal law cannot not trump state law. It is perfectly legal to hunt inside the city limits (there is no discharge ordanance in Chattanooga). We do so on North Chickamauga Creek WMA all the time. That being said all hunters actions reflect on us all so when someone does something stupid like hunt right behind a private school it reflects on all hunters.Bad idea..... again I would not do it.Baylor legally entangled the last guys and they could not purchase a gun for some time after that. You would need permission to hunt behind Walmart and I don't think you will have much success with that

Go for it. Just don't say we didn't warn you.
Easy trigger happy! Read the title of the post again Hagen. Nowhere on this post did I say I did hunt, I was going to hunt, planned to hunt, wanted to hunt in this area. All I said is that it is loaded with mallard ducks and somebody is stacking 'em. In my opinion, and from what I can find online I do not agree with asking permission from walmart or Baylor. Niether one ownes water that is accessable from the main river channel. This swamp is not landlocked, So tecnically You wouldnt have to ask for permission from either one. I understand what Rsimms is saying, and totally agree as always. I dont mean to start a war or beat a dead horse, just want some facts and not a bunch of here say, I wouldnt go if I were you, not good idea, somebody couldnt buy a gun, ect. WHERE ARE THE LAWS AND WHY ARE THEY SO HARD TO FIND? WHAT LAWS WERE BROKEN WHEN THESE PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED? I promise if I were going to hunt it, this is the last place I would come and blab to everyone about a honey hole. I would have done what everybody else does, go and post pics and tell everybody I hunt in AL. on private land. -Good Hunting-

The last time i went in there from the river there was a sign on the brige that said no firearms beyond this point
