Duckett Fishing rods

Look how popular Carrot Stick and other Chinese made rods are. I don't think the average guy cares. I used to be happy with myself because I always bought the USA made All-Stars before they went to China as well. I then went to Falcon for the same reason. After I signed with Airrus last year I was shocked to discover that none of the early '09 rods were made in the USA. Before the year was out, Airrus had started to manufacture the Copperhead, Feather Touch and K-Lite in Texas. One of their Chinese made high-end rods is made in the same factory as the carrot stick. Another company, Lamiglas, has started to manufacture a high quality USA rod.

I agree with You!

Commenting on the following quote . . .

"(In fact, our first production run of MICROMagic rods was almost pushed back to June. Our manufacturing company is so busy building rods for other U.S. manufacturers, we had to jump through hoops to fit in our production.)"

So, are all the rods coming from the same place? Where is the competitive motivation to make your product better? Where is the trade knowledge that made your product better? My last rod purchase was a Shimano, the handle felt like my nephew's Shakespeare. I like it, but shouldn't these differently owned companies be pushing for market share with their own ideas?

I just have a hard time believing that rods couldn't be made in this country. I just find it hard to believe that he would end up cutting out his market share and have to provide rods that the average fishermen couldn't buy. I am more than capable of understanding his largest profit will be made overseas. Look at fluorocarbon, it's really only manufactured at 5 different places, but there are tons of different retailers of fluorocarbon. Am I to believe that every extrusion of fluorocarbon going through is different for each company? I believe that as much as I believe that Mr Duckett will be producing rods that are essentially different that the other retailers where those rods are being made. I just take it as a slap in the face that we have become a nation of consumers and not producers...but believe in capitalism and competitive markets more than I could describe. I just don’t like someone openly pi__ing on my leg and telling me it’s raining…
