I'm sorry but this is going to take a while for me to tell this fish tale! Ronnie and I left out of CFP and headed down river. We got to our stop and I made the first cast with a shakey head worm. The boat was still bouncing up and down as I watched the line slowly sink and go slack as it hit bottom. Just as I started to pick up on the worm, it just suddenly took off straight away from the boat toward the bank! I set the hook, the rod bowed up, my reel was slipping as the fish took drag and down it went bull dog' in and digging for the bottom. Ronnie looked at me and asked what are you doing? He didn't know what was going on as it happened so fast. I yelled back at him to get the net. Then the fish got into some brush or a stump and broke off! Ronnie and I both were sort of stunned. After a few minutes we went back to fishing. A few cast later I felt a tap and boated a keeper of about 3 1/2 lbs. Then I believe I caught a short fish just after that. I made another cast or two and again suddenly my line takes off toward the bank again! I set the hook and once again yelled for Ronnie to get the net. But this fish wasn't going to have any part of that either. Down she went into that sparse brush and broke me off again! So there we both set just looking at each other and shaking our heads wondering what could have been. Dejectedly we go back to fishing. We had been fishing maybe about twenty minutes and lost two big fish. We didn't feel too good about things at that time. We keep on fishing. Ronnie hasn't had a bite. But after a few more minutes the Ronnie Sexton Show started! Suddenly Ronnie rears back on his rod and yells out this is a bigg'in! After a short fight I netted the 8 lb. plus beauty. I high fived my partner and went back to fishing. In just a few more cast Ronnie yells out again. I net that fish which was also in the 7 lb. range. Talk about getting pumped back up! Two fish like that will lift your spirits every time! We fished another thirty minutes or so going on down the bank and then turned around to go back over it again. About that time Ronnie yells for me again, get the net! I net another fish in the 7 lb. range! We fished around a while longer and then we slowly worked our way back up river to CFP all the while watching the dark stormy skies. I did catch a couple more fish in the 3-4 lb. range on a spinner bait to help heal my feelings and my sore spanked butt! All total I think we caught about fifteen fish. We had 22.29 lbs. I think it was with Ronnie's three fish for the win and have big fish. Sorry this was so long but as Walter Cronkite used to say as he ended his nightly news cast, and that's the way it was!
