Well wonders of wonders! Ronnie and I actually caught and weighed in a fish yesterday! After haveing zeroed in our first two events it felt good to get a keeper! It 30 degrees yesterday morning at the 7:15 am blast off from CFP. The water temp ranged from about 54 - 58 degrees. The river was dingy but not just muddy as some of the creeks where. the sloughs were fairly clear. Ronnie started out throwing a shakey head worm and i was throwing a small swim jig. On about my 4th cast i set the hook on a keeper! I hadn't seen one in a while. In a few minutes Ronnie boats another keeper. I think we caught another short fish or two and Ronnie gets our third fish. Wow, We had three in the box by 8 am! We caught several more fish and around 10 am we ran down river towards the dam. Ronnie caught two or three more fish on the shakey head but I ke[t tossing the little jig hoping for a bigger bite. I did finally catch a couple more fish but they were all cookie cutter look-a-likes and didn't cull any of hat we had. Around noon we ran back up river and made another stop. I think we caught a couple of fish there that were no help. We left there with about an hour to go and ran back into CFP and ended up the day. Ronnie caught more fish that I did on his Shakey head / spinning rod ouy fit. I kept throwing the jig and a larger shakey head trying to get a better fish to bite but that just didn't happen. I think we caught 15 or 16 fish total and culled three or four times. Our three little fish weighed in at 8.77 lbs. and as I said after the last two events we were glad to have them! Congratulations to Billy Campbell and Steven Hall on another win for this year. Hpoe to see you all on April 17th!
