We had fifteen boats to show up Saturday morning for the CFF out of Sullivan's on Nickajack. Ronnie and I ran up the river almost to Ross' Landing and started fishing our way back down the river. Ronnie was throwing his spinning rod, 3/16 oz. shakey head and a short little worm while i chose to throw a larger jig. I thought I might get a bigger bite with a larger bait. Within minutes i catch a 13 in. Spot. In just a few more cast Ronnie yells for the net and gets a six lb. LM. So much for the bigger bait theory! But I kept throwing my jig along with a larger shakey head worm and Ronnie stays with his little spinning rod outfit. We cauught a lot of small fish. Probably over thirty but we had only two small spots to go with Ronnie's LM. Finally about mid day I caught a decent keeper LM to cull out one of the Spots. We worked our way back down river and about 1 pm Ronnie gets another LM to cull out the other Spot. Our three fish weighed 11.37 lbs. I think it was and good enough for the win and big fish for the event. Thanks to all that participated. Our next event is Friday night, May 21st out of CFP. Hope to see you all there!
