What a miserable night for us. Ronnie and I were jinxed and snake bit from the start and it went on and lasted all night! We blasted off out of CFP and ran to our first spot. On the second cast with a shakey head worm I felt a faint little peck. I set the hook hard, the rod buckles. I yelled for Ronnie to get the net. ! I felt the fish shake her head, my drag slips as this toad pulls me down under a log. I'm trying to pull her up and out from the log and I can fell the line sawing back and forth against it just as the line pops. I was sick to say the least. We both tried to shake it off and move on but that set the tone and hung over the rest of the night. Later on in the night Ronnie has a fish on that pulls him into some brush and breaks him off. I break off another fish on a hook set. Then Ronnie breaks one off on the hook set. We are going crazy about now. Each one of us lost another fish that jumped off on a worm. Then I had two that jumped off on a spinner bait. We couldn't do anything right!? We had fished four different spots and by now were completely beaten and disgusted! We ran back into CFP to finish up the last hour. Guess what? I had another fish to jump off on a spinner bait! We then loaded the boat and got ready for weigh in. I am totally convinced that we had the bites and the fish on to win. We just couldn't put them in the boat. But that is fishing! We weighed in three keepers just over 7 lbs. All our fish were on shakey heads, Tx. rig worms and spinner baits. We fished brush, grass and a ledge. Most of the bites were in 10-15 fow. Congrats to Pete and Frank on the win and big fish.
