Went out in the fog this morning to test some new spots for catfish to see if they are moving to the deep water yet. Went to new secret spot #1 (slowly). Nuthin'. Moved to new secret spot #2 (still slowly, lots of fog). Nuthin'. Moved to new secret spot #3 (fog is getting a bit lighter). Nuttin' but 2 nibbles. Enough of this.

Hit OLD secret spot #1 (sun is wanting to peek through). Nuthin'. Hit old secret spot #2 (starting to not really give a poop about the fog or the sun). Nuthin'. But then, at old secret spot #3 - nuthin'. ENOUGH!

Hit the old standby not-so-secret spot (no fog at all and getting kinda warm). There are 5 other boats scattered around there, catching pretty much nuthin'. Hah! First drift, a nice 5 lb cat. Second drift, a smaller blue cat. Third drift, a 6 lb. I had one fruitless drift and then on the fifth drift another fish. The 5 boats scattered around are no longer scattered around. I weaved through the traffic and picked up a few more fish (as did some of the other boats) and suddenly - like hitting a light switch - there wasn't another fish to be found. Time to quit.

I enjoyed fishing the new spots, but the fact appears to be that the cats are chowing down in some of the shallower places yet - at least on the lake. I'll keep testing the deeper holes where I have a chance at that big fish I want on my 4# and 6# lines. This is the winter it will happen....................well maybe...............

Pics of one of the new secret spots in the fog, one of the sun just breaking through, and the proof that this wasn't just a fish story.
