The last time my best old friend Stuart came down to fish, we got him a huge couple of cats. This time he hit a 2 lb, 16-1/4" yellow bass, a pair of 5 lb largemouth, blue cats, smallmouth, white bass, and spots.
The weather was AWFUL!!! Cold wind and rain the whole time we were out, but the fish didn't mind at all. We had to go back for more shad today, we ran out after starting with 75-100 threadfin. I even took a BIG gizzard shad that I netted, and caught a 6 lb largemouth with it. Nice white bass were abundant, and the smallish spotted bass were wanting to play. I even got a 14" TARP black crappie at 30 feet. Heck, I even caught a couple of blue cats just to stay in shape. The fish were really active in the rain, maybe just before the front went through?
I have a few pics, and the ones of the yellow bass, along with a few close-ups, I have sent to a couple of fish biologists to see of they can identify the fish. If it is a pure yellow bass, it is the largest I have ever seen, although it would still be shy of the Tennessee State record. Amazing fish!!!
