Usually they get caught or foul hooked on a line. I've seen a few on trot lines that commercial fishermen had put out. They are filter feeders. They are actually VERY good to eat. I had one back years ago that someone had caught by accident. It was huge! They cut it into steaks, just left the big bone in the middle in. It really didn't even taste like fish.

Okay, This is how I caught it. The Sea Monkeys were instramental in this catch in that they had driven that grand fish to the surface. I was near the boils at the nuke plant and saw it on top water nearing my boat. I ran to the front of the boat, layed down over the side and grabbed the bill with my bare hands. I pulled it into the boat.......
The Paddlefish was about dead. I looked it over and could not find anything wrong except that it would not try to swim away. There was nothing inside it's mouth or throat. I tried to revive it but to no avail. I got some of the gases out ot it but nothing helped. When I saw that this fish had no chance for survival, I took the photos.
I released it and it floated away. I only regreat That I did not keep that large load of roe that gal was hauling to her doom.

Did you see Bass Edge this week. They caught one about that size while drop shotting for kentucky bass. Theguy feltsomething bump his line and set the hook and he had one of those on. They were on Table rock lake.
