Not trying to bring up old posts, but just wanted to relay an experience we have been thru recently. These wheels were stolen off of my front porch a few weeks ago on Jan 13th. A man came to my house and knocked on the door a couple of times and my wife did not recognize him (rough looking guy) so she did not go to the door. After beating on the door fairly hard a couple of times he backed up into my yard and sat there for 10 minutes, in the meantime she had called me to see if I knew who he was and I said no and advised her to call the law. He left while I was on the phone with her so she thought it was over. About 5 min later he came back, beat on the door really hard and then sat right in front of my house blowing the horn randomly. She got on the phone with the law and they said they had an officer on the Mtn. and would send him right over. During the time she was on the phone with 911 the guy left. Instead of the officer coming to the house he decided to drive around in the area looking for the man in his gold/champagne colored Chevrolet. A few minutes after hanging up the man drives back into the yard and pulled right up to my porch and jumps out and started loading up my wheels. She called 911 and gave them the car description and the tag number (stolen plates off of a jeep) as the guy was driving away. Nothing was ever recovered, as a matter of fact, I have never heard back from the Dade county police department after they did the initial police report. They did tell us this happens fairly often, if no one appears to be home they just load up anything they see on hand of any value.
