FA escapes "SKUNK"...barely 8-16

FA and I launched a little after 7:30 and went to the dam. As you can see from the pictures, I had a great time. The bass were in the edge of the current. Both of the large fish came on a Deep Little N. The other keeper came on a fluke. Before we quit about noon, I lost a Smallmouth in the 4 lb class that simply came loose after a couple of minutes. It was on the JTF Rod so I was handling it rather gingerly. It bit a brown jig with plastic baby chunk in pumpkin color. We were fishing some of Beetlespin's "vertical structure".

The final tally was MB 12, FA 1. I'll let him tell you the rest of the story!!!!

Wow, some pretty fish MB, Al, you have to do some work on that. Drum are just not as impressive. I like the look on your face FA, that looks like me when I catch one of those. I plan to be out there tonight. I hope that the fish will be there then.

When I saw Fat Albert's face .. I cracked up laughing. Poor fella!!! Well .. it was a little drum too! Hardly worth the effort of wasting the batteries except for the expression.

MB .. dang those are some nice fish! You boys are a treat to read about.

I noticed Al didn't extend his arm much to show us that drum either!!!

I have thought of several reasons for this happening to me...
1. on the run up to the dam I swallowed 1000's knats. coughed, spit, felt bad.
took a while to recover.
2. wrong bait
3. MB kept the boat turned the wrong way for me to fish
4. Tried to charge me 25 bucks for bait like his
5. Underwear in a knot

Now on the bright side....
I can net fish real good
I am a good photographer
Had to call the wife and told her to pray that I would not get skunked... She did but I should have told her to be more specific.....BASS, DARLIN, BASS.
We did have a great time on the water.... I sure would loved to have netted the Smallmouth... nice fish... there will always be the next time... FAemoGeezer

I don't really know if catching a drum qualifies as not getting skunked. Not when MB is holding a lot of fat largemouths. I mean, even a 6 inch spot would qualify, but a drum........FA you are reaching. BTW, that pic does speak a thousand words. emoPoke

Nice fish MB. I know your partner will do better next time. I don't think you can count a drum when you're bass fishing. It at least has to be in the bass family. That don't look like a cousin to me.

Be of good cheer FA. Don't pay attention to those that say your drum doesn't count. It's a fish and you did NOT get skunked. Skunked means you did not catch a fish. Now 12 to 1 might mean you got creamed or slaughtered or smoked or embarassed but never skunked. It could have been worse. You could have been working or something and not even had the priviledge of netting and photographing those nice fish MB caught.emoSmile
