Here we go... now that TVA has delivered it's massive turbine to the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (See: http://bit.ly/2lBGCNv), Chickamauga Lake water levels are on the way down. See: https://www.tva.gov/Environment/Lake-Levels/Chickamauga/Chickamauga-Operating-Guide

How fast and how far it will fall remains to be seen? emoScratch

I have some fishing acquaintances with good connections at TVA. The Agency generally overall has a "Holier than thou" corporate attitude. They would understandably never say so publicly. But I am told that behind the scenes, some upper level managers have admitted that they did a poor (or non-existent) job of informing the public about the recent untimely and uncharacteristic, dramatic raising of water levels.

As for me, once I heard, I understood... and even appreciate the efforts to keep providing me with cheap electricity. But yea, they should have explained it to folks long before it happened. Unless it's your Birthday or Christmas, everyone hates unexpected surprises.

Thanks for the info - any idea he w far down TVA plans to drop prior to the rise in April?

These true winter temps coming up this week should keep them from moving up aggressively trying to spawn. should help our cause

If the weather pattern continues as it has been I would be very concerned but it's not for this week at least. tva.gov has some good information on it if you're willing to pick through and read it. They actually do have a pretty solid fisheries management team and their word counts towards decisions made in the process.

It will not mess with the spawn very much at all. Fish are moving to prespawn areas but the water has not been warm enough for the first large wave of spawning fish to move in. This week being cold will help slow that down as well.

I hope they hold it somewhere around the 679-680 level and not go all the way down to winter pool.

If I were betting, Id put money that the computer that operates the entire system is driven to make the red line(current level) to fall and stay with in the shaded or grey area( the accepted level for this time of year).
