We ran down this morning but it was too dark to see jmax do his landscaping work in the bend of the river.Got to our first spot and caught our 1st keeper on a CUTTHROAT lemon shad spinnerbait.Jamie caught our next keeper on a spinnerbait and then we lost the next 3 fish . we ran to our next area and there was an elderly gentleman setting on that spot so I said"look old man either you crank up and leave or im gonna knock your false teeth in the Tennessee river" .Ok I didnt say that because I didnt want to explain gettin my ars kicked by Matlock. We headed to another spot and caught a couple of shorts on a topwater bait.At 10:30 Jamie caught our last fish on a frog .Thanks Chris for the tournament.

we started out just below the ramp with flukes and buzzbaits,i put our first keeper in the boat pretty quick on a junebug fluke and procraft put our second and last keeper in the boat on a spinnerbait.the small bass were killing the fluke, which at least made the morning exciting.after a couple of hours we moved on down toward mullins cove and got on more slicks with a junebug brushhog.around 10:00 we decided to run up above sullivans to see if we could finish out our limit but only caught several more slicks on the brushhog and crankbaits.we had a good morning catching small fish just couldnt never find the bigger ones.congrats to wetwillie and dec1 on the win,and thanks fishinvol for putting on the tx,looking forward to the next one.

Jmax's and CCSM's misadventures......We had a great day...why you ask...well we are not dead, hurt and we are still in one piece. Yes, today was a day I will never forget. I have never launched out of Sullivan's and James has been there only once. We missed the turn to 41, had to go down to the next one and turn around. Then we missed the landing all togather on 41, went all the way down until we saw the fireworks on 24 and had to turn around and back track. Finally got there and made it with little time to spare. Went about 30 miles more then needed. Next thing, we did get launched well and started off well but on the way down going around 70 MPH I thought I was about at Bennets lake and hung to the left. MAJOR WRONG IDEA!!!!! Next thing I know we are in about a foot of water going 70 with moss and trees laying all around us!!! emoEek I wondered why no one was with us anymore!!!!! emoEek I realized if I came off plain we would still be there now. Just as I realized what was going on a huge tree materialized right in front of us out of the darkness!!! AHHHH!!!!!!! I turned the boat towards the main channel still going 70 and prayed that there was nothing in front of us and we must have gone thru about a foot of water or less with an unreal amount of stuff there and only bumped a couple things. emoAngel emoWorthy God was looking out for us. Got down where I wanted to be with white knuckles and shaking but in tact. emoVomit Started fishing and fairly quickly CCSM says he has a good one. Rod doubled and I get the net, a 4 lber comes into the boat. emoThumbsup Then CCSM makes another cast and all I hear is, SPLASH!!! I turn around and see CCSM looking at where the splash was and he was empty handed. The rod he said had snapped and the recoil caused him to loose his grip. $160 dollar rod and reel sank to the bottom. Next thing my spook looked like a car battery fell on it, I set the hook and nothing. Throw back over there and this time no splash, just a big whirl pool and the spook goes under. emoEek Set the hook and the line just takes off. Drag screaming, there is no turning her. She rips the line like a mower through the grass and the line just mowed it down. With about 20 lbs of grass it stops. I start trolling towards it and you guessed it...she was gone. emoMad We must have missed about another five good bass through out the day and just could not get our act togather. About nine I check the fish and my live well pumps are not working. emoDoh CCSM goes up front and I start taking stuff apart in the back. One of the pumps is fried, melted and spent. emoDoh I take the top off to look at it and learned that when you do this on the water,...well water cushes into the boat. Looked like I struck oil!!! emoHoppingmad Got it back on and stopped the water coming in. Finally was able to get the other one to work after changing some fuses. emoSmile We managed several more bass but not one keeper in the bunch. Out of time we make it back to the landing and was amazed to look over what we had gone through that morning and you just would not believe it. There was so much stuff where we had gone through I would have never thought we could have done that. Back at the landing it was a relief to get the day over and still be complete. As we were leaving CCSM said,"Do you think we should say a prayer that nothing else happens?" I laughed and said I think we will be O.K. now. I barely got it out and James screams, "LOOK OUT!" I slam on the breaks and back up quickly...a guy that was not watching was backing down and we almost got clobbered. emoGoofy I stopped and honestly said a prayer that we got home. emoAngel This is one trip I will not forget. emoGrouphug Jmax

I forgot to mention congrats to Al and dec1 as well. That was three nice ones on a day that finding keepers was very difficult. emoApplause

Chris, thanks for putting it on, as always. emoThumbsup Jmax

In case none of you guys heard me today, I will say it again. I hate Nickajack. 10 years ago I would have told you a different story but man, after today I can't see me going back any time soon. Chris and I started out near Mullens Cove where nothing was happening. I did have a keeper get hooked on a Spro Bronze-eye, but after burying in the grass he came unbuttoned. Chris managed to lose keeper spot on a crankbait. Yes, our day was looking good. We moved downriver to just above Hales Bar. Naturally, it was slow again, but I did manage a 2.3 lb LM. Of course his head was bigger than the rest of his butter knife looking body. We moved again to a deep creek channel where I put a 7" spot in the boat----wohoo---but then Chris nails a bluegill on a 1oz spinnerbait. We are on fire now! A bit later we mark a couple of good schools of fish in 25ft. I set the hook on one but it felt kinda weird. Yes, I pulled in a big 15in crappie on a 1 1/4 oz spinnerbait, go figure. We pretty much just stunk up the lake the rest of the day til it was over. Who the heck wanted to go til noon. Anyway, it was more fun than sleeping, well maybe, but obviously we just plain stink. I wanna go back to Chickamauga, lol.

Jmax pretty much covered our day in his post. I would like to thank fishinvol for hosting the event and it was great to see everyone. I have been so busy for the last year or so that this is the first event for me in a long while. It was great to spend the morning with my friend Jmax. We had the bites to have won, but we just didn't execute very well. I had a great time and boated 5 bass. I got the 4 lb fish on a C'rigged 6" lizard in about 17'. I caught (2) 14" fish on a slugo fished over some grass and (2) more on a Pop-R also fished over the grass. Like Jim said, this morning is one trip I won't soon forget. We were flying down the river at 67 mph (I had my gps on!) in the darkness so my anxiety factor was already kind of high. It's not that Jim is not a great boat pilot, it's just that he only knows one speed ---- WOT  . All of a sudden I see all these stick ups go flying right by me and I feel the prop hitting some stuff and then I see out of the darkness this big log / brush pile right in our face emoEek . Jim started turning toward the river and the Ranger just starting skipping to the right. Well the pucker factor was pretty high let me tell you, but the good Lord above was watching out for us emoAngel and Jim's driving and decision to not come off plane was perfect emoWorthy and we somehow made it thru. When we came back up for the weighin I couldn't believe the area we had run thru. Losing the rod and reel was a minor thing compared to what could have happened. Congrats to the WetWillie and dec1. I hope to fish another event soon (but without all the problems) emoThumbsup.

Everyone be careful on the water emoPlease ,

Con-grats to WetWillie and Dec1 on the win and putting some good fish in the well. Thanks for putting on the tx Chris. Jmax glad you had the the Man Upstairs looking over you and CCSM could have been bad... Eddie and I waited till everyone else had left the stageing area then headed down river to Mullins cove nice and slow. Started out on the down river entrance and pretty much worked the entire area. We throwed topwater, cranks, and plastics and only found one hundred yard stretch were we could catch fish and then only on the plastic's. all of our keepers were caught on brush hogs and 11" worm, junebug and black were the colors of choice, from 8 till 9:30. We ended up with 5 keepers that we put in the boat and a total of 11 fish caught. Had one GOOD fish on during this time and after about fifteen seconds lost him in the grass and all i ended up with was a big wad of of grass. Win some lose some. Enjoyed seeing everyone again, work has been killing me getting on the water here lately. Hey Billy Hate that Flip wouldnt let you catch anything and hope your back is better. See Y'all on the water....

We caught all our fish on humps and drops. We caught about 15 bass of which seven were keepers. They were all clones no big fish. Primary baits were DD22 and C-rig worms. First place we stopped I caught 2 keepers on a C-rig. LJ did not get hot until around 10:30 then he picked up two one was a good spot on a DD22. We needed a big fish which was not in the cards. Thanks Chris enjoyed the time. The fish gods were looking out for JMAX sorry to hear about his misfortunes. No one was hurt and that is what counts. emoUSA

Flip and I had a blast yesterday! I guess we had some serious picking on each other to catch up on and it started with me missing the exit ramp for Taft Hwy...DOH!

Flip caught all our keepers on a Texas rigged worm. I managed a few here and there on the Parksville Killer Toad. Man its fun watching a fish take top water! Nevr could get those 14 3/4 fish to make it. emoLaugh I dont think we ever got too far from the ramp except for once and we didnt fish that long before we made our way back to were we started. Every fish we weighed in came before 9:30 then not another keeper after that.

Thanks Doghouse for the kind words...My back is still down on me. All I did was step down from the front deck to the floor and BAM...Pain! Not much better this morning at all :(

As always, the after party was great. I really enjoy just kicking back and chattin. Good seeing everyone! Good job Chris. emoThumbsup

Al and I caught our best fish early on worms and jigs 16-20 ft. deep. There was some rock on the break we were keying on. Later ended up catching a few keepers cranking similar water but they wouldn't help our weight. Good Tx and enjoyed the fellowship afterwards.

Congrats Al and Eric, with 3 nice fish. Good to visit with everyone after the T, thats always the highlight for me. Not much to add really about the fishing, we caught 4 keepers on 10" worms in Watermelon Red and Tequila Sunrise. Probably only caught 12-14 fish. It was pretty slow especially after 10 am, I think we only caught 1 or 2 fish after that. Hope your back gets to feeling better bud. Taft Highway??? thats on Signal Mountain. We missed the Lookout exit. Billy said he didnt miss it, he was taking the long way to look at the water color down lake LOL.
