Paul and I had a great time and as always, it was great seeing everyone. We caught plenty, but the size just wasn't there. In an effort to avoid exactly what happened to Jmax, we motored straight over to the docks across the river from Sully's at launch and began tossing buzzbaits until safer light. Almost immediately a good 'un sucked my buzzbait under but I never got a hook in it. We moved downriver and continued getting struck on the buzzbait, but still nothing in the well. All told, we caught fish on worms, BBs, SBs, traps, a 1 minus, toads, and possibly even a homer simpson crankbait ... but no size. We really tried a little of everything and just never got anything going ... in fact, I think the best decision we made all day was the one when we put the boat on the trailer.

Congrats to Eric and Al!!!

Man I wish I had been able to be there with you guys. JMax, glad you had your wits about you after you woke up. I always get scared when my friends (uh, hem! CHURLY!!!!!) hurls down the lake at 60+ in total black then discounts the danger by saying, "It's all good, I've got GPS". This is a great lesson for all of us.... Here is Jmax, one of the sages of the site and one of the best fishermen on here, but he got in about over his head in that boat.... Hope it scares us all straight. Sometimes those moments are necessary to remind us. Glad you are okay guys. That just scares the crap out of me!

Rob, I've had those fish down there do the same thing on the buzz bait. But the spook seems to get the grabbers into them for some reason. Do you run a trailer hook on your buzzbaits? I never have but interested if you do or would.

I hear ya 2jigs but I will say the NJ can write a heck of a good post. emoBigsmile He can make a bad day sound good. Make Churly sound like a hero(which we all know..ah..nevermind) and really spreads the butter thick. I think he should go to work for Rsimms writting for the paper. We need someone that can make a good thing out of a bad thing. emoAngel Jmax

Jmax doesn't use his GPS when he's running down the river at least he hasn't with me. I think that Garmin on his boat is a GPS.? I'm glad you two are okay! Congrats to Al and Eric on the win! I would have liked to have been there but I fished the CBA, My partner and I had a 100 bass day but couldn't find any kickers, we ended with 13.89#

Wow, what a day! First the blast off became real interesting immediately as a boat (Jmax) came flying by us at mach 7. This set off my alarm as my partner has a pretty heavy foot but is cautiously running down river. We watch as Jmax crosses over in front of us and starts to cut the corner off the first bend when we are already on the inside edge. Eric yells, "he's running in the grass and he's going to hit the tree", and starts backing off and we start making plans for the rescue. Suddenly the boat cuts back across the river channel and nearly takes our trolling motor with him. We now are faced with fishing the entire tx with soiled uniforms. This was not a pretty viewing of a near disaster. Once the demo show was over, we got to our first stop and blanked so moved to spot #2 and began to wait the fish out. They finally showed up and we caught our share and fortunately had one decent fish that made the difference. The "real difference" was having Eric as my partner. He not only is a great friend but an expert guide and angler.
Thanks Chris for your effort and I am so glad my friend Jmax and CCSM made it safely. As Flip said, hanging out afterwards was most enjoyable...I am still laughing at some of the jokes. Great to see everyone and I can't wait till the next one. Al

Wow, had no idea we were that close to you guys. When you cut across in front of us down towards Spring Lake we just about took a shower from you two. emoRolleyes The problem was you could see what was in front of you some due to the horizon starting to lighten up but we could not see anything to the sides very well at all or to the back. Sorry we got so close and cleaned you up. At least you got cooled off and a payday at the end. We just got soiled pants. emoDoh Jmax

Sounds like I missed a good one! However, I am glad I missed the boat ride with my scheduled partneremoPoke. As soon as I read Jmax's post, I could picture that big inside bend across from Mullen's with a couple puckered up dudes riding a grass and mud roostertailemoLaugh.

Congrats to Dec1 and WetWillieemoThumbsup

Both of Jmax's seats are mysteriously ruined. From what I could see it looked like both of them had a 2 inch hole right in the middle emoPoke
