Well being old and set in my ways and hate change,I still use Dawai BW2 bait reels on a Abu Garcia Pro Strike 6'6" med Hvy rod ,have 6 of them rigged on the deck at all times they never have failed me yet so I don't see changing to all the new stuff.Fenwick Flipping stick with a ambass reel too.

CTS EBP783 blank

with 4" TN handle (made of cork w/ a 1.75" diameter) centered 6" above the butt of the rod (Essential a split grip).

with 3mm running guides

Reel on that rod is smallest sized Pluegar Supreme, which is nice, but the rod really deserves a more expensive reel.

Shimano Chronarch on a G Loomis GL3 medium heavy rod. I smile every time I pick it up. Add fluorocarbon line and a tungsten weight or jig and it becomes so sensitive, I can tell the sex of the fish that's gonna bite.

Nothing beats a Shimano reel mounted on a G. Loomis rod. I like the Calcutta 200 on a MBR784 or a Sustain 4000 screwed to a SJR783. Now why can't they make a combo like that that only costs $30.00 ??

I'll throw my $0.02 in...

Scott S4 9' 5 weight, with a Bauer MacKenzie SuperLite Reel. Got the rod last week and can't wait to try it out! It casts really well.

Just thought I would throw a fly rod into your survey.

For bass, BPS casting rods w/ Ambassador 521 XLT low profile reels. They are really old but really good (and cheap). For panfish, Shimano trigger spinning reels with cheap rods (reccommended by Drumking) from Wal-Mart.
