Been a Shimano guy my whole life, but have a couple of old Diawa procasters. My new citica is really a great reel.
Love my St Croix, but have some custom rods that I bought from a shop in a clearance barrell. Other than the red one that FA is holding hostage for some HUGE dough.... the custom/cheapo's I stumbled upon are my favs.
