We started out shallow - sitting in 3' and throwing up in to 1'. Immediately noticed A-LOT of bait activity all around us with some bass movement, including a good 3 or 4 pounder rolling on them. Couldn't get them to bite anything in this area for the first 45 minutes or so which always gets me second guessing what I am doing, throwing, etc.; so we move to another area and Calder puts a solid keeper in the live well pretty quickly. Do not see as much bait in this area, but the fish are there. We were able to sit in the same general area, moving around some, and get some really good action for a couple hours. Limit by 9 and culling by 10:30. At 11 or so, we decided to go fish an area that Calder had fished the weekend before that had some better fish in it, but zero'd there. The change in water elevation shut the area down unfortunately. We had a couple of bites in the area which prolly caused us to stay in there too long - giving up time we could have been elsewhere trying to get a big bite. With an hour and a half to go we head back into the park to fish around some deeper areas looking for a big mama staging and only caught a couple more fish with no help. we caught fish on lipless, SB's, JB's. We caught 11 or 12 keepers just no monsters. Not many short fish either.
Sorry Dad couldn't join me but thanks to Calder for jumping in. He culled through all my fish and we weighed his fish. He was on fire early on. I do not mind being "trolling motor man" & "net man"....
Congrats too Todd on the "W". I was glad to see him win it with the kicker 7pluser.
Thanks to the committee as always for a well run event - even with TVA making it tough to get boats in and out of the water....
